Reading Eckhart Tolle's "The New Earth" ~ An excerpt

What arises now is not a new belief system, a new religion, spiritual
ideology, or mythology. We are coming to the end not only of
mythologies but also ideologies and belief systems. The change goes
deeper than the content of your mind, deeper than your thoughts. In
fact, at the heart on the new consciousness lies the transcendence of
thought, the newfound ability of rising above thought, of realizing a
dimension within yourself that is infinitely more vast than thought.
You then no longer derive your identity, your sense of who you are,
from the incessant stream of thinking that in the old consciousness
you take to be yourself. What a liberation to realize that the "voice
in your head" is not who I am. Who am I then? The one who sees
that. The awareness that is prior to thought, the...

I never got interested in Tolle, and even now it seems like he's just
someone else saying the same things.

Someone once sent me his tape set, I think it was "The Power of Now" and as
soon as I started it, I kept noticing how he was making things real (the
body, sickness, problems) and then giving things one had to do to "fix"
them. After they had been made real.

I never finished listenig and later when someone else got intersted in him,
I sent them to them.

At one point some who had gotten away from Raj got into Tolle in a big way.
Also Tobias- something like The Crimson Circle?

One more teacher, one more Guru, one more way to spend money and for
someone else to make it.

Now Oprah is backiong Tolle (along with Obama) he's all set.

Maybe it's just me, I like Oprah (as a TV show hostess and some of the
guests and shows she does) but when she starts telling me what I "have to
read" and "have to vote for" like she'd God or something, this turns me off.

I know, you didn't offer the quotes for this, but I'm giving
feedback/discussion.

Like an overseeing awareness...
of the play of life...

It's pretty cool when we recognise the 'overseeing awareness' even in our
night dreams. :)

They say, that those who have a strong hold in this vantage point...
rest in it even in the space (or nothingness) between dreams.

Sweet :)

Yes, that sounds ever so "sweet"! You must be very Special and
Important to be one of the Rarified Ones who have a strong hold on
these Special and Important "vantage points" that for some reason
continue to elude the majority of losers despite the neverending
repetition of them throughout the history of the spoken word. We
must all be very Unspecial and Unimportant, huh, Jimbo?

By the way, how can you Profound People tell the difference between
your Special and Important "vantage points" and the silly
superstitions or mistaken beliefs the misguided, failures, and losers
believe in? Does it have something to do with smirking?

~Oprah is perhaps the most respected and influential woman in the
world. She gained that status by always acting with integrity and high
ethical standards. So when Oprah says, "you have to read this book,"
or "I endorse Obama," people think, if a woman of Oprah's high
standards think this is a good idea, its most likely a good idea. In
other words, Oprah is not playing God, she is just using her hard
earned influence.

Which of course is in stark contrast to your negative influence and
lack of credibility. I suspect if you posted in the morning the sun
was shining nearly everyone here would look out the window just to
check.

No, that would actually be "abusing her hard earned influence", and
she most certainly is playing God with the hearts and minds of the
cotton-brained multitudes who think daytime TV is an intelligent
person's panacea. Oprah is the icing on a cake made of soap, so don't
eat it, you dope. There's a campaign slogan for McCain!

Oprah is becoming a Cult unto herself. That's not a good thing, which
is evidenced by your silly panderings.

No one should attempt to supplant the influence they have over others
for individual and free thought. That's called "undue influence" and
that's precisely where Oprah is treading of late. Naturally, you
would swoon. Not that you're an easily influenced culthead who pees
in his pants every time someone echoes your own sentiments, of Curse.
