So, it would be okay with you if people call you on being judgmental,
critical, not minding your own business (God didn't appoint you to
police the universe and make sure everyone sees and believes the
course the way you do) and just plain unkind?
>>>Considering how horribly you are butchering the Course message, advice
you should take. This garbage is well below your usual standards,
which
suggests it is personal, not business; and your dragging in your
irrelevant resentments about Sheryl, and Tom unerline that.
And, what does the course say about the need for defense?
You feel Tom and Sheryl need your defense and can't deal with this
themselves in any way they want or are Guided to?

Everything is personal with you, isn't it? You you you. Me me me. This is a
Course group, not an encounter group.

deborah:The ego has to die before the spirit can be resurrected. Pure ACIM.
It is also quite apparent in the TM under "What are the
characteristics of God's Teachers?" that much loss will be experienced
along the way, as one learns to differentiate between the valueless
and the valuable. Pure ACIM.
sv: I agree with you Deborah. I've been guided to review the section,
development of trust, quite a bit of late. I've noted that most of those
stages of growth, per the course, are "painful, engender conflict,
distress/etc." --- I see this as true. I don't buy into the suffering,
sacrifice notion as presented by organized religion, however, there is no
doubt that the stages of spiritual growth are not easy and take time, as the
courrse says a long, long time...note the extra "long' ;) sheryl

nancy:I think she was right, though, in this sense:
It takes a lot of resolve to change your
thinking, and even more to let Something
Invisible take the wheel. This resolve often
comes when a person has reached his/her
pain threshhold.
sv: yes, I so agree. sheryl

tom:~ That is why painkillers, anti-depressants, and alcohol were
invented. To delay that threshold being reached for as long as
possible.
sv: uh yeah...right on!

deborah:It's always interesting to see people who don't admit to using pain
killers, anti-depressants, or alcohol making authoritative statements
like this about people who do.
sv: well yeah, I just responded to tom's post, but yes deborah, I get where
you're coming from. I have a pet peeve about those who put down
anti-depressants, only because I've witnessed that they can have incredible
effects to enhance a person's life. it's not true that they numb them to
pain, but rather, in this world, brain chemestry is a factor, just like one
who counsels another to not take anti depressants probably would not counsel
that person to not take insulin if they were diabetic. what's the diff?
My son was on paxil for several years, at first it was truly like a miracle
I have to admit but was not the whole answer. now that he has given up
others things he's using SAM=e which I'm excited to say, is really working
for him....anyhoo, my 2 cents. ;) sheryl
How would you know, out of curiosity?

a glass of sweet vermouth on ice with
lime. Not with the pain-killers, though.
sv: yeah I LOVe wine too! hahah! although working on the 'sufferinng'
involved to give it up! ha! also like pasta and pizza - egad! sheryl
