Are you sure you aren't a Catholic? Because this isn't the Course view at
all. Reaching as high as you can is a matter of returning to what God
created. Suffering is not essential for the Atonement: "The Crucifixion
did NOT establish the Atonement. The Resurrection did. This is a point
which many very sincere Christians have misunderstood. Nobody who was
free of the scarcity-fallacy could POSSIBLY have made this mistake."

To say we must suffer to reach as high as we can is the scarcity fallacy,
according to this. Something is lacking, and must be *paid for*. That
payment is due only makes sense with a belief in scarcity.

Nancy "I think she was right, though, in this sense:

thinking, and even more to let Something
Invisible take the wheel. This resolve often
comes when a person has reached his/her
pain threshhold."

~ That is why painkillers, anti-depressants, and alcohol were
invented. To delay that threshold being reached for as long as
possible.

Your remark is utterly irrelevant. Do you have a point?

It is not pure ACIM, and ACIM in fact contradicts this claim. Spirit does
not need to be reserrected, and the ego is not killed. It is a mistake
which is given up, but note that Jesus makes use of his learning from
bodily life extensively.

Read the passage again. The cross is the cross you believe in and insist
on nailing yourself to. It is that cross which you overcome by not
crucifying yourelf over and over.
