Google used to take half a day up to a day for them to show up and a few
times they haven't had any new ones for days, and you never get those.
Google just picks them up from the usenet feeds or whatever, and it
sometimes jams up in some way.

It's Google. This happens from time to time and it's a real pain. If
you and George have a mail program like Outlook Express or Thunderbird
here are 2 free news servers that you can get the ng from.

The problem is with your perception, George, not with
Google or your computer both of which are infalliable.
Your misguided attempt to bring a degree of spirituality
to the ng has caused a tolerance overload in the system
and its tools. I, for example, am receiving messages
six hours before they are posted. Carrie receives them
twelve hours before they are posted, and Katie receives
then prior to the separation which is how she knows
everything.
