"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty
than to those attending too small a degree of it."
-- Thomas Jefferson
"Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare but
only those specifically enumerated."
-- Thomas Jefferson
"[T]he powers of the federal government are enumerated; it can only operate
in certain cases; it has legislative powers on defined and limited objects,
beyond which it cannot extend its jurisdiction."
-- James Madison, Speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention [June 6, 1788]
...[T]he government of the United States is a definite government, confined
to specified objects. It is not like the state governments, whose powers are
more general. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government."
--James Madison
"...the opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are
constitutional and what not, not only for themselves in their own sphere of
action but for the Legislature and Executive also in their spheres, would
make the Judiciary a despotic branch."
-- Thomas Jefferson

To be a Republican you need to believe:
1. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary
Clinton.
2. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's
Daddy made war on him , a good guy when Cheney did business with him,
and a bad guy when Bush needed a 'we can't find Bin Laden' diversion.
3. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade
with China and Viet Nam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.
4. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our
highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq .
5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multinational drug corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind
without regulation.
6. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
7. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
8. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies,
then demand their cooperation and money.

The man is looking for certainty and no certainty can give more
happiness than to believe in God. This website, already read by
thousands of people all over the world, has given to many people hope
and comfort.
Beyond what we can feel in our heart through logical deductions, being
simple and irrefutable, it will be seen that Jesus Christ is really
resurrected.

Katie, is it your conviction that mind,
or even life at all, is but a corollary
of highly structured matter?
If so, what is the reason that
matter starts structuring itself?
Pieter.

Repost re: discussion of form and content
_______
Hi guys,
'Just came across this page of highlights and excerpts,
and thought some here might find it as enjoyable and
helpful as I did.
It's what I call a "worksheet" where I research a
particular concept -- often one that I regularly see arise
here for debate and discussion. The relationship of
form and content to meaning and reality is one such
intriguing topic, and the worksheet I compiled is rough
but complete, in capturing every mention of form and
content ..
http://form-blocks-vision.notlong.com
First 3 lines of the worksheet read,
WRITE A PIECE ABOUT HOW FORM IS THE OUTSIDE OF
EVERYTHING THAT BLOCKS VISION
blocks REALITY & MEANING
