Are You Ready to Lose Your World?
There is a very famous poem written by the third patriarch of Zen, Seng-ts'an, called the Hsin-Hsin Ming, which translates as Verses in Faith Mind. In this poem Seng-ts'an writes these lines: "Do not seek the truth; only cease to cherish opinions." This is a reversal of the way most people go about trying to realize absolute truth. Most people seek truth, but Seng-ts'an is saying not to seek truth. This sounds very strange indeed. How will you find truth if you don't seek it? How will you find happiness if you do not seek it? How will you find God if you do not seek God? Everyone seems to be seeking something. In spirituality seeking is highly honored and respected, and here comes Seng-ts'an saying not to seek.
The reason Seng-ts'an is saying not to seek is because truth, or reality, is not something objective. Truth is not something "out there." It is not something you will find as an object of perception or as a temporal experience. Reality is neither inside of you nor outside of you. Both "outside" and "inside" are not getting to the point. They both miss the mark because outside and inside are conceptual constructs with no inherent reality. They are simply abstract points of reference. Even words like "you," or "me," or "I," are nothing more than conceptual points of reference existing only in the mind. Such concepts may have a practical value in daily life, but when assumed to be true they distort perception and create a virtual reality, or what in the East is called the world of samsara.
Seng-ts'an was a wily old Zen master. He viewed things through the eye of enlightenment and was intimately aware of how the conditioned mind fools itself into false pursuits and blind alleys. He knew that seeking truth, or reality, is as silly as a dog thinking that it must chase its tail in order to attain its tail. The dog already has full possession of its tail from the very beginning. Besides, once the dog grasps his tail, he will have to let go of it in order to function. So even if you were to find the truth through grasping, you will have to let it go at some point in order to function. But even so, any truth that is attained through grasping is not the real truth because such a truth would be an object and therefore not real to begin with.
In order to seek, you must first have an idea, ideal, or an image, what it is you are seeking. That idea may not even be very conscious or clear but it must be there in order for you to seek. Being an...

http://groups.google.com/group/Talk-Course-Miracles-Moderated/msg/4b35970eb4ced1...
I downloaded it and saved it, just for fun I printed two (on a page,
cut in half) out to look like an on-paper card.
Showed it to people today, my family, people I know (whoever I saw
during the day) and everyone CRACKED UP.
I thought some might find it offensive, and wasn't sure about them
looking at it, but when I showed it to one, they'd take it and show it
to another, and a whole group would be standing around reading it and
lauhging. I think it strikes them funny, because of the stress of
Christmas, trying to buy things, crowded stores, rushing around. Maybe
in away, some really do feel like sending cards like that.
One woman I showed it to said her husband would LOVE to see it, so I
gave it to her. Everyone who saw it laughed, and it seemed to raise
the spirits and energy (or whatever). My daughter (I was out with)
stuck it in the side window of her car and people next to the car (in
traffic) were looking at it, reading it and laughing.

"Consciousness, after all, is only seeking itself. This mysterious
conundrum totally boggles the logical mind however, since
Consciousness is already the very same thing that it is pointing to.
But even after acknowledging that we can't realy talk about "It," we
still seemed compelled to go ahead and talk about it anyway.
But what is more 'real:' a poetic description of Niagara Falls or
experiencing the awesome force of the falling water itself?
The problem is, of course, that all words are fundamentally
dualistic. When used at this level, the best that they can do is to
invite you to look within for yourself. No matter how cleverly they
might be put, though, they can never logically solve he Great Paradox
for you. You just can't get there from here, In fact, thre is nothing
in your...

I see you, O Housebuilder. No longer shall you build, the rafters are broken, the ridge beam is shattered. The mind has attained freedom from the compounded things and realized the end of cravings. Now, at last, I see that all beings by nature are Buddha, it is only their attachments and delusions that keep them from realizing This.

I am learning to listen and hear! MaZ music. I love this music.
Moods, and emotions, and deeper still, a river of wonder - melody and
mid-air changes, and a landscape evolves in my mind of a super-natural
world where anything is possible to be experienced or received, even
if it is only in my personal perception of it.
Last night a miracle happened. I saw little but strong and constant
lights before me, a little like Vincent van Gog's 'starry night', but
like nothing that has an echo in the world, really. It looked more
like the covering image on the Australian aCIM 'Sparkly Version' but
the background was not visible.
Miracles depend on timing. And Christmas is a time when it can be
remembered that Christ is born, not just 2000 years ago, but reborn in
our hearts, each year, month, week, day, hour, minute, second and
instant.

Nondwelling
Q: How am I to practice desirelessness?
M: No need to practice. No need for any acts of renunciation. Just
turn your mind away, that is all. Desire is merely the fixation of
the mind on an idea. Get it out of its groove by denying it attention.
Q: That is all?
M: Yes, that is all. Whatever may be the desire or fear, don't dwell
upon it. Try and see for yourself. Here and there you may forget, it
does not matter. Go back to your attempts until the brushing away of
every desire and fear, of every reaction, becomes automatic.
Q: How can one live without emotions?
M: You can have all the emotions you want, but beware of reactions,
of induced emotions. Be entirely self-determined and ruled from
within, not from without.
Merely giving up a thing to secure a better one is not true
relinquishment. Give it up because you see its valuelessness. As you
keep on giving up, you will find that you grow spontaneously in
intelligence and power and inexhaustible love and joy.
