I'll share an experience and what I learned from it.
In l983 I got divorced. It was as bitter, as acrimonious
and as litigious as a divorce can get. There were kids
involved. Custody battles. Support...

  Is love all or nothing?

Author: Carrie
Date: Nov 22, 2007 08:30

Can Love be "Real" if it's giving to some and not All?

Can someone (for example) write on a discussion board "I love
everyone here SO MUCH!" while others are banned, shunned, or unwanted
on the group?

Can one Love some, without loving ALL? While some are enemies (and
some they love today, could be enemies tomorrow (LOL)

The course says "only the love (we give and receive) is real". So,
everything that isn't love (those seen as enemies, unworthy of being
included in one's love) isn't real and doesn't matter.

Also, anyone has a choice in how THEY feel about it (in this
case, a person expressing love for some, but not really all) .

We can't control anyone else and how and what they seem to do, be,
feel, believe.

And, only the love is real, so the rest doesn't really matter...
Only the idea "all that I give is given to myself". Which must include
love, too.

  What is says part 3

Seems like this (preface to the Second Edition) gives good
explainations to what "the course says" overall.

Of course, those who don't agree with Ken Wapnick about this, would
see it differently. So, it's not like this is JUST what it means,
with no room for any other beliefs or interpretations/perception of
it.

Just seems like a clear, simple explaination of it as basics.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Forgiveness is unknown in Heaven, where the need for it would be
inconceivable. However, in this world, forgiveness is a necessary
correction for all the mistakes that we have made. To offer
forgiveness is the only way for us to have it, for it reflects the law
of Heaven that giving and receiving are the same. Heaven is the
natural state of all the Sons of God as He created them. Such is their
reality forever. It has not changed because it has been forgotten.

  What it says part 2

Author: Carrie
Date: Nov 22, 2007 07:02

(posting these in parts, going by the topics in them, for separate
threads- discussion)

What is says it says:

Sin is defined as "lack of love" (Text, p. 11). Since love is all
there is, sin in the sight of the Holy Spirit is a mistake to be
corrected, rather than an evil to be punished. Our sense of
inadequacy, weakness and incompletion comes from the strong investment
in the "scarcity principle" that governs the whole world of illusions.
From that point of view, we seek in others what we feel is wanting in
ourselves. We "love" another in order to get something ourselves.
That, in fact, is what passes for love in the dream world. There can
be no greater mistake than that, for love is incapable of asking for
anything.

  What is says it says

Author: Carrie
Date: Nov 22, 2007 06:58

From the Second Edition
Copyright(c) 1975,1985,1992,1996 by the Foundation for Inner Peace

What It Says:

Nothing real can be threatened.

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.

This is how A Course in Miracles begins. It makes a fundamental
distinction between the real and the unreal; between knowledge and
perception. Knowledge is truth, under one law, the law of love or God.
Truth is unalterable, eternal and unambiguous. It can be unrecognized,
but it cannot be changed. It applies to everything that God created,
and only what He created is real. It is beyond learning because it is
beyond time and process. It has no opposite; no beginning and no end.
It merely is.

  Miracles 5

Author: Carrie
Date: Nov 22, 2007 06:56

5. Miracles are habits, and should be involuntary.

They should not be under conscious control.

Consciously selected miracles can be misguided.

This says we can consciously select (and do) miracles, maybe like
tricks? (Criss Angel, etc- anything that doesn't seem "normal" and
understandable. To some, or if you think about it, watching TV is a
miracle. Picture-from something in one place is sent through the air
and others see it over long distances. Talking to someone in another
State or Country, on a little piece of plastic held to the eat and
mouth? etc)

Which would indicate it's possible TO DO tricks that seem to be
miracles.

But also says not to do this, like decide what to do, how, when.
Maybe just remember our Oneness and Connection to God, and trust what
comes from it?

As a way of life.

Miracles are habits (and elsewhere it says "natural") this would
seem to be different than the dictionary, and commonly held definition
of a "miracle". Which doesn't seem natural.
