  For Thubten Regarding Misunderstandings

hi, Thubten,

- Sorry to have been so late in getting back to you -
been busy with family stuff...

There has been a big misunderstanding here. i have never posted to e-
sangha,
nor do i know you from any other group.

my post in reply to baz was that your request for monetary donations
sounded odd
in regards to the pratimoksa he was familar with, and was asking you
to clarify,
as he said "what sort of pratimoksa" you follow...

my post was an invitation for you to explain the difference between
the Theravadin and
Gupta pratimoksa traditions ans the Mulasarvastavadin pratimoksa....

In the Sri Lankan and Chinese pratimoksas bikkhus may not deal with
money, nor may
they lend funds to a bank to gain interest - this was "Baz"'s
question..,

Action, motive and the soul the method of interpretation

Author: Akash
Date: Nov 24, 2007 09:12

Let us inquire into the laws of action with reference to the soul, and
understand the nature of motive in action. The cause of action is the
desire to obtain some satisfaction; and, as this desire serves the
purpose of the soul, the soul is concerned in each action; for the
result belongs to the soul, and without it there can be no action.
But this applies to animate and not inanimate objects, which serve the
purpose of living creatures and impel them to action; for it is a self-
evident truth that the soul cannot engage in action by itself.

It is necessary to understand the nature of purpose in action. A
person who is in a state of uncertainty or divided opinion, cannot
act; and so there must be a definite purpose before he can act.
Desire means that there is such purpose; and it implies dependence as
well as attachment.

There is diversity of purpose and action; nevertheless, all things
meet and mingle in the world; and this is symbolized by the formation
of curd out of milk as well as by Nature or Prakrti.

MI5 Persecution Update: Friday 13 November, 1998

If You Intend To Reply, Please Read This

If you have any questions or observations you would like to share with me,
then you are very welcome to reply to my fax number 0171-681-1190. But
please.... keep your response to one page if you can! I have had several
people faxing my article back to me, including one MP faxing back twenty
pages. I do not know if he had anything intelligent to say in his 20-page
fax because I applied judicious use of the "Delete" key on my
computer. Faxes over a page or two will be deleted without being read.

MI5 Resume Hostilities in Response to these Faxes

When I wrote last weeks "MI5 Persecution Update" I remarked how quiet my
life had become. No longer! MI5 have restarted hostilities with a
vengeance the past week, in response I believe to the faxes I have been
sending to members of the House of Commons.

MI5 Persecution: Why do you think MI5 are responsible? (7293)

Author: MI5Victim
Date: Nov 24, 2007 00:13

Why do you think MI5 are responsible?

The question of who is ultimately responsible for this eight-year
harassment is one which is very difficult to answer, as the persecutors
have never clearly made their identities known to the persecutee. However,
I believe I am correct in attributing the continuing victimisation to
elements of the British Security Service MI5, and in this article, I will
try to explain the reasons for this belief.

The British internet magazine ".net" featured my website on page 17 of
their March 1998 issue (number 42). Their review kindly describes it as an
"excellent site" and gives some details of what the net surfer will find
there. Should you wish to reply to this article you can do so;

"When did you first suspect MI5 were responsible?"

Over Easter 1995 I went to see a local solicitor in London with a view to
talking to the police about the harassment. Soon afterwards I did go to my
local police station in Clapham and spoke to an officer there. The
solicitor made a comment which suggested to me that the persecution I had
been experiencing may have been organised by an intelligence service.

  MI5 Persecution: Faxes Sent to Parliament1 (768)

Author: MI5Victim

Faxes Sent to British Parliament logs

During the 1998-2000 period my records indicate that I sent at least 14,480 faxes to the British Parliament
in Westminster, of which 9,138 went via TPC's email-to-fax service and 5,342 were sent via fax-modem direct from
my computer. The actual figure is obviously much higher since, for most of this period, whenever a recipient asked to
be deleted from my mailing list, I totally wiped all entries including that from the logfile.

In the records "Y" indicates successful transmission from fax-modem, "N" indicates failed transmission from fax-modem.
"E" indicates an error occurred while transmitting via fax-modem and a fax may have been only partly transmitted.
"y" and "n" indicate success or failure via TPC.

In April 2000 I changed the method of operation by recording "R" when a recipient requested removal, rather than
wiping their details from my mailing list and records; and keeping "B" records for when TPC actioned a ban on a
recipient's fax-number, but the recipient did not write to ask me to cease faxing. The purpose of these changes
was to keep more accurate and complete records, but the intention was thwarted by the police complaint.
