POWER & AUTHORITY- two points of view,

Author: ausgepotchket

1) Secular viewpoint by Noam Chomsky - Jewish essayist and
philosopher.

2) LSA of Lucknow, India defying Hands under Shoghi Effendi in 1958.

Noam Chomsky -

"POWER unless justified is inherently illegitimate. The burden of
proof is on those of authority to demonstrate why their elevated
position is justified. If this burden cannot be met, the authority in
question should be dismantled. Authority for its own sake is
inherently unjustified".

Resolution passed in the presence of seven members of the Assembly

A spiritual attribute missing in those who claim to be Baha'i leaeers

The leaders of the various Baha'i groups who claim to be the 'CHOSEN"
leaders in the Baha;i Faith in general fail to show much humility,
which is an essential virtue--------

Verily, through meekness, man is elevated to the heaven of power; and
again, pride degrades him to the lowest station of humiliation and
abasement. (Compilations, Baha'i Scriptures, p. 148)

We are all poor at His Door, weak before His Power, lowly at His
Threshold, and we possess the power 315 of neither good nor harm. He
is indeed the Confirmer, the Strengthener, the Benevolent! (Abdu'l-
Baha, Tablets of Abdu'l-Baha v2, p. 314)

Verily I supplicate God to confirm thee in that which He desireth, to
protect thee from conceit and self-exaltation and from selfish
concerns, to make thee devoted unto Him and resigned unto Him
(Abdu'l-Baha, Tablets of Abdu'l-Baha v1, p. 137)

If thou art seeking everlasting glory, choose humility in the path of
the True One.
(Abdu'l-Baha, Tablets of Abdu'l-Baha v1, p. 214)
