Tibet monks put to 'patriotic test'
14 Jun 2008, 0044 hrs IST,REUTERS
GANNAN PREFECTURE (CHINA): Three months after demonstrations flared up
in Tibetan towns and monasteries across China, monks say they now have
to pass a patriotic test, possibly in September, to be allowed to
remain as monks.
Tension runs high in Gannan, a heavily Tibetan area in Gansu province,
which was convulsed by marches and attacks against government
buildings and some non-Tibetan shops, after demonstrations turned
violent in Lhasa on March 14.
Monks now struggle to pay fines and master texts on āpatriotic
education,ā while armed paramilitary units guard access to main
monasteries. Work teams have moved into monasteries to supervise study
sessions that are supposed to break monksā allegiance to the Dalai
Lama who China believes is responsible for the unrest.

Well, they haven't come up with a "human test".

Is that any better than being "coolies in their own land"?
They are slaves to the Dalai Lama already.

Yeah, we have seen SO many pictures of HIS police thugs abusing the
population of Tibet.
I wonder how he has enslaved those people so well since he hasn't been in
the country for, remind me again, how many years?

What do you consider humanity?
Kind regards,

In the USA, Americans have USA Patriot Act.
This only proves Americans are slaves in their own land [your logic].

I oppose the CCP giving financial assistance to any religion. State
assistance to religion contaminates both the State and the religion.

The US Patriot Act does not require anyone to pass a patriotic test, for any
reason whatsoever.
Indeed it is forbidden by the US Constitution.
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the
several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of
the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or
Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever
be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United
States.

Free meals. Free board. Free haircuts. No need to worry about having
the latest duds. Minimal useful skills qualification. No job
competition. Job security for life. No need to think. Everything
needed to get through the day predetermined by ancient routine. No
Hans. Get to beat up Hans once in a while and blame the DL. Chicks,
especially white chicks, think you're so cool. May even score if can
sneak away from the temple.
