You seem to have missed the part where the search is based on parental
consent. A search sans a search warrent is perfectly legal when the
child´s parent says "okay, check the little bastard´s room to see if
he has any guns that have been used in a homocide."
Of course, if there is probable cause, the police do not require
permission from anyone in the premises to enter and search such as
when they drop by your hovel because the stench from your crack pipe
is so thick you´re stoning the whole fucking neighborhood.
