Monsanto Fails to Censor Accurate Milk Labels

[If anyone needed an excuse to boycott Monsanto, their attempts to use
the state to keep their competitors from providing accurate information
on product labels, of the sort necessary for consumers to make
purchasing decisions, should provide one. They actually have the nerve
to claim that their attempts to censor their competitors stems from
concern over the accuracy of their labeling. One should note that the
safety of the milk isn't the only concern; the hormone treatments make
cows more prone to a number of painful diseases.--DC]

Solid Energy defends use of investigators

State-owned enterprise Solid Energy today defended its use of a private
investigation firm that uses infiltrators to spy on the activities of
protest groups.

The Sunday Star Times reported an Auckland private investigation firm
was paying students to spy on environmental, peace and anti-vivisection
groups for its clients, including Solid Energy.

The paper said the firm, Thompson & Clark Investigations, paid a
25-year-old Canterbury University student to infiltrate Christchurch
environment group Save Happy Valley. The group opposes Solid Energy's
coal mining plans on the West Coast.

The student told the paper he was approached by private investigator
Gavin Clark about eight months ago and began spying immediately.
