I have used the doc you referenced 2 times when it was first published. I'm
not in the same environment so I'm a little rusty.
In swtching from ASE 12.x to ASE 15.x , you have switched from an oledb
driver written by a third party to a driver written by Sybase. The OLEDB
DATASOURCE tool no longer exists.
New Step #1. !!!! Get the latest EBF for the oledb client !!!! There have
been many fixes for linked server in the last year. The EBFs can be found
in the Software Development Kit... They will have a version of 15.0ESD#13.
(You at least want #12) The version of SDK looks older than your ASE
release but that is ok - they do not follow the same version sequence.
After installing the latest client ESD, jump to CONFIGURING MICROSOFT SQL
SERVER.
Do as instructed -
At step#4 choose SYBASE OLEDB Provider
At step#5 - Go to the connection tab and enter the datasource...
