Actually, it is too funny to be true, but typical of right wing math.

One billion seconds is only a little less than 32 years, taking us back
to 1976, not 1959. The rest of the numbers are off accordingly.

The request for $250B is for the entire state of Louisiana and it is for
10 years. The population of Louisiana is 4,287,768, so you are off by
an order of magnitude in population. Assuming that Landrieu got what
she asked for (which she won't) that would mean a little under $6K per
year for each person. But, only $180B of that is direct federal
funding. That reduces the amount per person to a little more than $4K
per person. Yes, most of that money will go to the coastal region
including New Orleans, but that includes not only the Greater New
Orleans area, but also Acadiana and the Florida Parishes which contain
most of the population of Louisiana.

Of course, you blame Landrieu for this, but Vitter, a Republican, was a
co-sponsor of the request. Then too, didn't Bush promise $200B in aid
to New Orleans?

Doesn't anyone check these things before passing them along?
