Brn,
So my travels have brought me to the City of the Angels for the next
six weeks...
Any Masonic activities in or around the downtown L.A. area on a Monday
night? I'm at the Westin Bonaventure, but without wheels, and will be
here 'til July 5th or 6th.

Has anyone here joined this group? I am interested, but would like to
know if anyone has an opinion on it yet.

I have no affiliation with them (at least, not yet)
Thanks

======================================= MODERATOR'S COMMENT:
That appears to be someone attempting to cancel a message to the newsgroup (not one of the moderators, so it's a "forged" cancel). On the other hand, I didn't see this message and many news servers wouldn't honor it even if it were properly formatted, so it's likely that the cancel didn't, in fact, have any effect. - Alan, moderator

Yep... Many Jurisdictions have slightly different award criteria, but
all have some sort of service award. For example in Michigan we have
the Lou B. Windsor Award, which is practically the same as the Hiram
and Golden Trowel Awards except that the proposed recipient cannot
have served as WM of a Lodge.

When I was attending a business seminar the speakers mentioned that we
should have a 1 or 2 minute speech describing our business that could
be delivered while riding an elevator. Basically a short overviewm,
with a goal of getting the listener to inquire more.
I mentioned elsewhere that I consider myself to be a "young" mason,
and have been thinking about this in terms of masonry.
What do you say to people when they ask what masonry is, and why you
are a member?
Thanks

I discovered after joining masonry that roman catholics are
"forbidden" from becoming masons. I am a roman catholic, but I have
always had many disagreements with the church, and really have just
been going thru the motions.
My question would be, how many masons here are RC, or do you know of
any at your lodge, and how do they balance this issue?
I am more tempted to join a different church, just afriad of telling
my mother ;-)

Well, not really. On the suggestion of my Activities Committee
Chairman, we held Lodge at the Masonic Home last night in one of their
meeting rooms. We had quite a turnout, including several who were
unable to walk or take stairs. It took a lot of work hauling the
furniture to and from, and there was a little stress regarding the
dispensation, but it all fit together in the end and we had a
wonderful time. Everyone was pleased that we put forth the effort.
Next year's Master (the man who will stand for the office) said he
wants to come back, and we're hoping it will become a tradition.
We initiated a man last month and he proved up last night. He did an
excellent job, requiring no prompting. We'll confer the FC degree
next Tuesday (7:00PM if you're in the area).
