Discover Secrets, Surprises & Skeletons with Family History Research

Author: oaycrjfusbwi

Have you ever seen a family pedigree? Names and dates in elegant
script winding back through time. If you are like most people your
family doesn't come with a ready made pedigree. If you love puzzles
maybe it is time you delved into the world of genealogy and family
history. Digging into the past to discover your family roots is a
puzzle that could keep you busy for quite awhile.
Genealogy is the study of lines of descent. Family history, includes
genealogy, but goes into biographical research of your ancestors
lives. It involves the study of the times and places where your
ancestors once lived. It is what puts "flesh on the skeleton" of the
data produced through genealogical research.
Along with finding an appreciation for the years of history and
geography studied at school, the family history...

Help reading two birth records, written in cyrillic

Author: sjramonat
Date: Aug 1, 2008 19:01

Hello,

Below are links to two birth records written in cyrillic that are from
the Lutheran church in Sakiai, Lithuania.

http://www.comnet.ca/~sjramonat/WFromm.jpg
http://www.comnet.ca/~sjramonat/AKalau.jpg

For the first image, I am concerned with that for "Wilhelm Fromm," who
is the 8th from the top.

For the second, I am concerned with that for "Anna Kalau," who is the
11th from the top.

The columns are as follows:
1. Last Name, First Name of Child
2. First Name of father
3. Maiden name of mother
4. Birth date & place

I really just need to know the name of the mothers for Wilhelm and
Anna.

I know that Wilhelm's father was Friedrich, and it looks like his
mother's first name was Wilhelmina. He was born 01 January 1857 in
Mickai.

  Make it an Unforgettable Birthday!

Author: oaycrjfusbwi
Date: Jul 9, 2008 03:37

The first known birthday celebrations began among the Egyptians with
parades, circuses, and gladiatorial events - all complete with feasts
that sometimes lasted for days. Romans celebrated the birthdays of
their gods with parades and chariot races. Mortals were not encouraged
to celebrate their birthdays in Rome. Germany introduced the tradition
of birthday cakes about 200 years ago. The cake itself was filled with
gifts that predicted the recipient's life in the upcoming year. For
example, if the slice of cake contained a ring, it symbolized
impending marriage. A coin guaranteed riches throughout the next year.
If the cake fell while baking, it ensured impending doom to the one
celebrating a birthday. Today, various countries celebrate birthdays
in unique ways.
In the United States, the traditional birthday ritual calls for giving
gifts to the one celebrating his special day. Selecting the "right"
gift depends on the individual, his interests, and how well you know
him. Instead of purchasing the "same old" thing, add a unique twist to
your birthday gift selections this year and watch out for the positive
feedback! Below are several ideas that you may wish to give thought to
as you plan your next birthday gift list for every child, teen, or
adult in your life.... ...

  Discovering Your Family Tree

Author: oaycrjfusbwi
Date: May 30, 2008 06:58

Discovering your Family Tree is becoming one of the fastest growing
hobbies as more and more of us are inspired to trace our Family Trees.
Genealogy, or discovering your family tree, can be a fun and valuable
hobby. You will start to learn where you come from and what your
family history is all about. You may also discover that your family
played a role in historical events and you will certainly discover
what impact historical events had on your family.
The hardest part of getting into genealogy for a lot of people is
getting started. They just don't seem to have direction or an idea of
how to get going with their research. The best way to get started is
actually by getting four things set so that the process is easier.
Make sure you have a plan, keep track of a goal, have wide goals, and
develop a set of methods that suits you best.
The best first step to take in genealogy is to make sure you have some
sort of idea where you want to go. You will have to set a goal so that
no matter what you do online or in the library you are always focused
on your goal. If you constantly review your information and goals, you
will be able to make sure you are always headed in a direction that
will aid you in achieving your genealogy goals. The goal doesn't have
to be complex, just make sure you have something in mind that will ...

  RE: REPAC /LJUBOJEVIC/ SKOREC

Thank you,
Looked at phone books you mentioned. It's far to daunting to even think
approaching anyone after 30 years away from the country.
Hubby Mike (who changed his name here in Australia) does not know where to
start.)
Where could we go to search for the burial sites in Saveno Selo, a village
area outside Novi Sad.
We are driving from Belgrade and have as much time as needed to find his
mums (Sofia Ljubojevic) burial site(1980) ----

Thank you
Jeannette Miles
