Pakistani Peace Delegates Killed
Islamabad, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) At least eight delegates of the peace
committees involved in the negotiation process of a cease of fire
between religious rebels and the Pakistani army died in the tribal
region of South Waziristan on Monday.
According to the Ministry of Defense in Islamabad, the incident
occurred when alleged anti government groups opened fire at those
tribal leaders in Wana and Shikai localities.
According to the military release, three delegates died in a market in
Wana and the other five in their residences in Ahikai, mountainous
regions close to the border with Afghanistan.

Arab League Demands UN Intervention in Palestine
Cairo, Jan 6 (Prensa Latina) The secretary general of the Arab League,
Amr Mousa, called on the United Nations to intervene immediately to
stop Israel's crimes in the Gaza Strip.
In a communiqu(c) released at the AL headquarters, Mousa condemned
international passivity and urged the UN, the European Union, Russia
and the United States - all members of the so-called Middle East
Quartet - to intervene.
The Israeli army murdered at least 12 Palestinians, including two
women, and several dozens were wounded on Thursday and Friday, during
air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian
security sources.

Palestine: Israel Sabotaging Peace
Ramallah, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) The chief of Palestinian security in
Nablus, Colonel Akram Rayub, Monday accused Israeli military chiefs of
destroying all efforts for restoring order in that West Bank city.
The Palestinian official told the Israeli radio station that on one
side Israel demands Palestine to fulfil what is established in the so
called Road Map, but on the other side it ruins everything because it
does not trust Palestinians.
The Road Map is a peace plan promoted by the US, the European Union,
Russia, and the United Nations, and it is hoped that its implementation
leads to the creation of an independent Palestinian State.
However, Israel continues creating conflicts in the West Bank, where it
launched offensives in Nablus city in the last four days.

Genebra, 4 jan (EFE).- Fabrice Delloye, ex-marido da senadora franco-
colombiana Ingrid Betancourt, seqüestrada pelas Forças Armadas
Revolucionárias da Colômbia (Farc), acusou hoje o presidente da
Colômbia, Álvaro Uribe, de fazer "um jogo político" com o caso do
menino Emmanuel.
Na semana passada fracassou a libertação da ex-colaboradora de
Betancourt, Clara Rojas, e da ex-senadora Consuelo González de
Perdomo, reféns das Farc.
Na mesma operação, a guerrilha libertaria o filho de Clara Rojas,
Emmanuel, que, no entanto, foi apresentado por Uribe como livre e
residindo há dois anos em um orfanato público.
"Tudo foi um jogo político, Uribe sabia há semanas da existência de
Emmanuel", afirmou Delloye em entrevista coletiva em Genebra.
"A palavra 'humanitário' não entra em seu vocabulário", afirmou o pai
dos dois filhos de Betancourt, seqüestrada junto a Rojas em fevereiro
de 2002.

La delegación marroquí que participará en la tercera ronda de
negociaciones sobre el Sahara entre el Reino y el "Polisario", del 7
al 9 del corriente mes en la localidad neoyorquina de Manhaset, ha
celebrado anoche una reunión de trabajo en Nueva York con otros
miembros que la acompañan.
Durante esta reunión, la delegación ha reafirmado la voluntad de
Marruecos de ir en adelante en la aplicación de las resoluciones de la
ONU para encontrar una solución política y definitiva a este
diferendo, que opone desde 1975 el Reino a los separatistas del
"Polisario" apoyados por Argelia.
La delegación, compuesta por el ministro del Interior, Chakib Benmusa,
el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores y Cooperación, Taieb Fasi Fihri, el
presidente del Consejo Real Consultivo para Asuntos del Sahara
(CORCAS), Jalihenna Uld Errachid, y el director general de Estudios y
Documentación (inteligencia exterior), Mohamed Yasin Mansuri, resaltó
también la importancia de la iniciativa marroquí de autonomía del
Sahara presentada el pasado mes de abril ante la ONU.

The XVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State, held in Chile from
