As winter approaches and the Santa Cruz, California homeless shelter
at the armory opens, many are discussing the Santa Cruz sleeping ban.
The camping ban, commonly called the sleeping or blanket ban,
prohibits sleeping on public property between the hours of 11 p.m. and
8:30 a.m. It is also against the law to set up cooking equipment, or
to cover oneself at night with the intention of sleeping.
According to attorney Kate Wells and members of the American Civil
Liberties Union (ACLU), the law is "a human rights violation which
criminalizes homelessness."
Is this law against what Jesus instructs us in Matthew 25 ? Should we
fight it as Christians ?? as Humans ???

=(1)= Holy Ibrahim (on whom be peace) prayed to Allah for a prophet to
come to set high standards in four aspects in his supplication: *And
our Lord, raise among them a Messenger from among themselves, who may
recite to them Your Signs and teach them the Book and Wisdom and may
purify them; surely, You are the Mighty, the Wise.* (al-baqarah-2:130)
*****
=(2)= First of the four aspects, i.e. *who may recite to them Your
Signs (Ayat)*..... The word *Ayat* has various meanings and nuances;
signs, miracles, indicators to believe, directors to safety from
chastisement, forecasts of incoming happenings, knowledge of creations
in heaven and earth, culture etc.... One of these meanings is warning of
chastisement.
*****
=(3)= Allah sends Signs to demonstrate the truthfulness of His
prophets and their people; He shows miracles..... Allah is indeed the
font of all powers, He is Al Aziz (The Mighty).....The verse (17:60) and
others like it speak of a warning being given to the earlier people it
also carries a lesson for the people of the current age, in particular
the Muslims... Muslims need to ponder over the signs associated with the
fourteenth century [of the Muslim calendar] and in light of this they ...

British Premier Urges People to Tighten Belts
London, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) British Prime Minister Gordon Brown
urged his country on Sunday to brace itself for a year 2008 with
tightened belts amid global financial turbulence.
In his New Year greeting message, Brown warned that the global credit
problem which started in the US "is currently the most immediate
challenge to any economy."
A few months ago, Britain suffered a first impact of this crisis on the
Northern Bank, an institution the British administration is trying to
save without ruling out its eventual nationalization.
Brown pleaded for a renewal of the civil nuclear energy program as "the
most effective way to guarantee security of energy supplies" while
confronting climate change.
