A rebel movement gains support of the peopleand grows IFAND ONLY IF it
is fighting for a clearly spelled out programme for (revolutionary)
change.
That's the lesson provided by the Rebel Army led by Fidel Castro, Raul
Castro, Che Guevara, and a long list of others.
That's the lesson provided by Umkonto we Sizwe, the armed wing of the
African National Congress (ANC, i.e., Nelson Mandela's organization /
party), whose dissolution of its guerrilla wing was linked to the
ANC's greater ability to operate and organize the masses and fight the
rulers through non-armed means.
The mainstream media (especially newspapers) have been using the
recent hostage "rescue" as a governmental act / action which will
cause the decline of membership and support for the FARC (i.e.,
Spanish acronym for guerrillas operating under the name of Colombian
Revolutionary Armed Forces). What is behind the decline of the FARC is
absence of any spelled out programme for (revolutionary) change --
even the pretense of having a programme and appealing to the
oppressed / working people of the country in conjunction with forming
a mass movement withan armed wing has been abandoned by FARC since at
least 1982. ...
