A Georgia father of Pakistani descent allegedly strangled his 25-year-
old daughter because she wanted to get out of an arranged marriage to
a man she had not seen in months, according to police in Clayton
County, Ga.

Chaudhry Rashid, 56, was scheduled to be arraigned today on a murder
charge. Rashid was arrested early Sunday morning at his family's house
after police responded to a domestic disturbance call and found his
daughter, Sandeela Kanwal, dead in an upstairs bedroom.

In 1971 it was not the Bengalis but almost the entire Punjabi
population, along with the Urdu-speaking population of Sindh, who
wanted ‘Bengal’. A few tiny progressive groups, like the Young Peoples
Front, some pro-Soviet intellectuals and a handful of writers and
elements of Amador Kinas Party were raising stifled voices. However,
these feeble voices were drowned in the thunder of Bhutto’s and other
patriots’ rhetoric. Alas, in the Bengalis we lost the best protectors
of democracy in Pakistan and our best allies even in the Punjab
University.

Islam Is The Only Truly Universal Religion

Islam is the religion taught in its fundamentals by all the prophets. It is
the religion which the first human being was instructed to follow. It is the
religion of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad and all other prophets

CAIRO - Disturbed by rising anti-Islam sentiments since the 9/11 attacks,
Samina Ahmed has started a mission to educate Americans about Islam and
clear misconceptions about the faith.

"(People) a lot of times have so many questions," Ahmed told the Springfield
News-Sun newspaper on Monday, July 7.

"And I make them comfortable enough so they can ask them."

Since 9/11, Ahmed, 35, has been holding a seminar twice a year to educate
people about the teachings of Islam.

This Thursday, the Pakistani-born will hold her seminar "Practicing Islam in
Clark County" at the Public Library to discuss the faith as a whole.

She will also distribute free English translation of the Noble Qur'an to
attendees.

In previous seminars, Ahmed discussed many Islamic issues such as fasting
and Zakah (alms giving).

Ahmed, who migrated with her parents to Canada when she was 5 and later to
the US at the age of 17, says Americans are now more receptive than ever to
know more about Islam.

Islam is the efficient cure for the world from the horrible disease of
Capitalism

Everybody today is in crucial need of Islam, which is completely different
from Capitalism:

Islam is based on worshipping Allah. That is where man is given his due
honor and respect. Islam distances people from worshipping their benefits
and desires, which leads to the disregard and humiliation of man, and makes
it easy for certain people to take advantage of him claiming the right to do
so and putting themselves above everybody else. We recall the saying of
Ribi' bin 'Amer when he was asked by Kisra, the king of the Persians:" What
is it that brought you?" He answered: "We came to get people out of the
worship of people into the worship of the Lord of people, and out of the
narrowness of this life into the wideness of this life and the hereafter,
and out of the injustice of religions into the justice of Islam."

Islam is based on the call to belief in Allah, the creator, and ruling by
his law (Shari'ah) under which nobody is oppressed.

Jihad is established to prevent any state or authority from interrupting the
free choice of faith by the non-muslims, and to implement the just Islamic
