Dhaka - A young Bangladeshi man was gunned down by suspected Indian
security forces near the India-Bangladesh border amid mounting tension
along the common frontier of the two neighbours, local police said
Monday. Omar Shareef, chief of Benapole police station in north-
western Bangladesh, claimed the body also bore marks of multiple
wounds.
With the latest casualty, the number of people killed since Friday in
border violence rose to seven.
Bangladeshi officials said the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has
taken up an aggressive posture since the paramilitary outfit was
ordered to shoot at sight any person near the frontier after sunset.
At least 73 Bangladeshi civilians were killed allegedly by BSF in the
past six months, official records said.
"India is our friendly neighbour and such a huge number of killing of
civilians is unacceptable," said Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Touhid
Hossian, returning home after an annual consultation meeting with
Indian Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon in New Delhi.

-------- Forwarded Message ----------
Over the last few weeks a range of human rights organisations have
been able to document with video cameras abuses against Palestinians
in the
Occupied Palestinian Territories. A month or so back, BTselem released
video
of settlers in the South Hebron Hills attacking Palestinian farmers,
while the
ISM shot film a few weeks ago in the same area documenting a
Palestinian man bound
to a pole and beaten by settlers.

US to send 11,000 more troops to Afghanistan
By Our Correspondent
WASHINGTON, July 21: The United States plans to send 11,000 additional
troops to Afghanistan during the next fiscal year which begins on Oct
1, says the Pentagon.
Currently, there are roughly 35,000 US troops in Afghanistan — 23,550
assigned to International Security Assistance Force and another 18,500
assigned to the Combined Joint Task Force 101, US command in the
country.
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said the US would like to increase
the troop level in Afghanistan by two brigade combat teams and about
4,000 trainers in 2009.
Other Pentagon officials said that the decision to increase troops in
Afghanistan is also linked to a planned withdrawal of American troops
from Iraq where the situation is stabilising.
A leading candidate for the 2008 US presidential election, Barack
Obama, said on Monday that he also backs calls for withdrawing
American troops from Iraq and deploy them to the war in Afghanistan.

‘US can attack Al-Qaida in Pak’
Washington, July 21
Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has warned Pakistan
saying his administration will strike Al-Qaida targets there if
Washington gets "actionable intelligence" on the presence of terror
groups.
"... what I've said is that if we had actionable intelligence against
high-value Al-Qaida targets and the Pakistani government was unwilling
to go after those targets then we should," Obama, currently on a tour
to Afghanistan and Iraq, said.
"Now, my hope is that it doesn't come to that. The Pakistani
government would recognise that if we had Osama bin Laden in our
sights, we should fire or capture..." the 47-year-old Senator from
Illinois said in an interview to CBS News which was broadcast on its
Face The Nation programme.

Blaming the ISI
Sir: We complain that India always blames the ISI for any mischief that takes
place in India. However, how can we complain about the Indians blaming the ISI
when most Pakistanis continue to blame the agency for all killings, kidnappings
and bomb blasts? Is it not time that we recognised the extremist and sectarian
groups who have brought our country to the brink of extinction? If we continue
to believe in mind-boggling conspiracy theories, we will never recognise our
true enemies.

Nick "Just Been" posted this on a Singapore website:
Beat up infidel tourists, says Muslim cleric
ISLAMIC cleric Abu Bakar Bashir has returned to his hardline rhetoric
with a call for followers to beat up Western tourists and for young
Muslims to die as martyrs.
In the sermon, organised by an Islamic youth organisation and
delivered a few kilometres from the home village of convicted Bali
bombers Amrozi and Mukhlas, Bashir likened tourists in Bali to "worms,
snakes, maggots", and specifically referred to the immorality of
Australian infidels.
The address was caught on video by an Australian university student.
"The youth movement here must aspire to a martyrdom death," said the
cleric, who was convicted of conspiracy over the 2002 Bali bombings
that killed 202 people, including 88 Australians, but was later
cleared and released from prison.
"The young must be first at the front line - don't hide at the back.
You must be at the front, die as martyrs and all your sins will be
forgiven. This is how to achieve forgiveness."

Donkey skin to boost women's libido
22 Jul 2008, 0000 hrs IST,ANI
DARWIN (AUSTRALIA): Bizarre as it may sound, but chocolates,
strawberries and various herbs are not the only aphrodisiacs that
would provide your libido a boost, for the latest to join the list of
such substances is — believe it or not — donkey skin.
As it turns out, donkey skin is used in traditional Chinese medicines
that are designed to increase women's sex drive. And now, a Hong Kong
company is trying to locate up to a million donkey skins every year to
use them for making traditional medicines.
After a long time of sourcing the donkey skin from South America, the
company has now set its gaze on Australia. Sydney-based exporter John
Fleming wants to hunt feral donkeys in the Northern Territory to sell
overseas. "They want the skins, but not for leather. Apparently there
is a certain extract in the skin they can use for traditional
medicine," the Northern Territory news quoted him, as saying.

The Jewish Problem
Jews have a huge problem and it will not go away by ignoring it. Or blaming
others. Denial causes the problem only to become bigger. It has been around
for more than two thousand years, and if we don't fix it now, the
consequences will be catastrophic.
I want to make it very clear: The problem is not anti-Semitism. The latter
is just a symptom of the problem, not its cause. The problem is Jewishness
itself.
Being Jewish does something to the human brain. It affects how we think,
feel and act. It makes us feel both superior to and afraid of non-Jews. It
makes us treat other human beings in ways that cannot be reconciled with
universal human values.
What makes a Jew a Jew?
