vehicle is on such a tirade that it's hard to understand what he's saying.
He goes on so long and loud that I began to think this was going to be the
point of the piece.

But watch all the way to the end. Observe the disturbing helplessness of the
police. It is difficult not to be embarrassed for them, as they seem to have
no cohesion and no ability to deal with mob behavior.

I am troubled by the extremes of reaction by the UK Police. On the one hand,
the "community police" harass and even incarcerate the indigenous Brits for
allegedly dropping an apple core on the sidewalk. On the other hand, they
are seemingly helpless in the face of an aggressive crowd of immigrants who
have only contempt for their authority.

This is worse than corruption. It is collapse. Corruption can be reformed,

Jimmy Carter has written a post on the Washington Post's "On Faith"
blog entitled "Presidents Should Not be Liars."

Carter states: “I do not think the President of the United States
should be a liar, and believe that the overwhelming majority of US
citizens agree with me. For security reasons, the whole truth cannot
always be revealed, but it is quite obvious that lies are seldom made
to protect our nation. Almost invariably, the political fortunes of
the prevaricator are at stake.”

While Carter doesn’t mention any recent names or examples, some
obviously come to mind. The most glaring, destructive and disgusting
lie invented and maintained by the handlers of George W. Bush is their
manifestly false insistence that the attack on and occupation of Iraq
is of material importance to the security of the United States.

Body of missing tourist found

The body of missing Israeli tourist Liat Okin has been found.

Okin, 35, was last seen at the Mackenzie Hut on the Routeburn Track on March
26. A police search failed to find any trace of the tourist and a private
search co-ordinated by the missing woman's brother, Itamar Tas, was launched
on April 24.

This morning police flew back into the area after a private search team
found items belonging to Okin yesterday afternoon in dense bush near the
track.

A body, believed to be Okin, was found near the belongings at 1.10 pm.
Police are currently recovering the body before taking it to Dunedin for a
post mortem and formal identification.

In a statement police said the belongings were found about 2.30pm Thursday.
Queenstown police were alerted that evening when the searchers came out of
the bush and a police search team Flew into the area this morning to join
the private searchers.

Liat's family have been advised of the discovery of the body.
