Prime Minister Ehud Olmert faces police interrogation Friday, after Attorney
General Menachem Mazuz issued a special order allowing police to question
him within 48 hours.
According to a report in Yedioth Ahronoth, the new investigation revolves
around suspicions that the prime minister received bribed from an American
businessman based in Israel. Former Prime Minister's Office Bureau Chief
Shula Zaken was also questioned by the police on the matter.

The alleged bribes, added the report, amount to a small fortune, paid in
cash in various occasions which took place both in Israel and abroad. The
businessman in question, who is currently in Israel, is said to be
cooperating with the police.

The new investigation is not directly linked to one of the ongoing
investigations against Olmert, but its leads did surface while the police
were working on one of them.

Shula Zaken, who served as Olmert's bureau chief for years, was reportedly
interrogated by the National Fraud Investigations Unit on Tuesday. Zaken has
been questioned by the police in the past in connection to other
investigations held against the PM, as well as in connection with an affair
which exposed alleged corruption in the Israeli Tax Authority.

When the Rev. William Procanick put his hand on the Bible during his
sex-abuse trial in Oneida County Court earlier this year, he swore to tell
the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

But as the former Clinton pastor was sentenced Friday to three years
in prison for inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl at his home last
March, Judge Michael L. Dwyer said Procanick sacrificed his honesty the day
he testified.

"As a minister of God, you got on the stand and you lied," Dwyer told
Procanick, the 54-year-old former pastor of Resurrection Assembly of God
church on Kirkland Avenue.

A jury found Procanick guilty Jan. 22 of first-degree sexual abuse and
endangering the welfare of a child.
