Jewish women in prison want more support from community
LORI EPPSTEIN
Bulletin Staff
Michelle Margulies was the dream daughter of every Jewish parent. Her
childhood was shaped by synagogue life, Jewish summer camps, religious
retreats and the hallmarks of upper-class privilege.
But something went wrong.
Margulies, now 24, graduated from Santa Barbara's silver-spoon suburbs into
a national crime syndicate.
She is now serving a 23-month sentence at the federal prison camp in Dublin
for eight counts of credit-card fraud and trafficking stolen goods in
several states.
The young woman is one of about 20 Jewish female inmates there, including
would-be presidential assassin Sara Jane Moore and Hollywood madam Heidi
Fleiss. While their crimes are embarrassing to the Jewish community, many of
the women still want to be Jews.
In prison, they light Shabbat candles, build sukkot and hold seders. Some
study Jewish texts every week with a rabbi and follow kashrut.

I already know my family came from Germany.
If a chimp nigger traces its family back we find
a dead end three generations back.
They don't do genealogy for animals.
Don't get me started on the jews and their
bloodlines.

Generals Cannot Fight Without Troops
In the first ten months of this year, more U.S. soldiers were killed in Iraq
than in any other year in the war.
In the first ten months and one week, more U.S. soldiers were killed in the
war in Afghanistan than in any other year in that war.
These two wars, which in reality are one, are not - as Bush pretends -
"going well." Not for the U.S. troops.
And certainly not for the people of these besieged countries.
Two things are new since the "Surge" began in Iraq last February. The U.S.
has stepped up its bombing. And it is giving weapons and support to
sectarian and ethnic militias, using them against the population to control
whole areas of the country.
The end result has been an Iraq increasingly divided into ethnic, sectarian
or even political enclaves, policed by the various militias. The center of
Iraq, which once was the most diverse, is being drained of its population.
Shi'ites continue to flee to the South, while Sunnis escape from the South
to the West and near northern part of the country. In the North, the area
around Kirkuk is a battlefield, with Kurdish forces camped on its outskirts,
blockading the city, imprisoning Arabs inside the city.

"We didn't know at the time," he said, that the Nazis were
systematically executing Jews. "You find out all these things
afterwards."
Klaus Zwilsky, 74, of Calvert County MD, is a Holocaust
survivor. ...
He was not sent to a concentration camp, nor did he spend World War
II
hiding in the home of a sympathtic non-Jew. Instead, Zwilsky survived
in a
Jewish hospital in Berlin, with the knowledge, and consent, of the
Nazi
government.

Report: US Readying for Pakistan Raid
By Mark Impomeni
Dec 31st 2007 3:30PM
The Herald (UK) has a disquieting story today citing military sources
who say that United States Special Forces units are standing ready to
move into Pakistan to secure that country's nuclear weapons stockpile.
The unites are set to move should Pakistan slide deeper into chaos in
the wake of the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
The "snatch teams," as the source refers to them, are said to be
positioned inside Afghanistan and are augmented by members of the
Nuclear Emergency Search Team, a volunteer group of nuclear
scientists. Should civil war break out in Pakistan, sources say the
units are under orders to enter Pakistan and secure the country's
arsenal of approximately 60 warheads at diverse locations.

Usama bin Laden Says Israeli Regime is Behind the 9-11 Attacks
KABUL, Afghanistan (Ummat): Prominent Arab mojahed (freedom fighter) Usama
bin Laden or the Al-Qaida group has nothing to do with the 11 September
attacks on the Bush Administration, according to an Usama bin Laden
interview with Ummat, the Karachi-based Pakistani daily newspaper. In his
interview, Usama bin Laden pointed out that the Israeli regime is behind the
9-11 attacks. He expressed gratitude and support for Pakistan, urging the
Pakistani people to continue their jehad against dictators, tyrants,
traitors, crooks, criminals, dictatorships and tyrannies. Following is the
text of Usama Bin Laden's interview conducted by a "special correspondent"
and published in the daily Ummat on Friday, 28 September 2001. The place and
date of the interview was not given by Ummat.
Daily UMMAT: You have been accused of involvement in the attacks in New York
and Washington. What do you want to say about this? If you are not involved,
who might be?
