President-elect Barack Obama Washington DC, Nov 23, 2008 /
07:48 pm (CNA) - Citing what they call America's "promise
of equality," the Obama administration plans to push for

supporting full civil unions for "LGBT couples" to give
them "legal rights and privileges equal to those of married

Pakistan moves (thousands of) troops toward Indian border
By Sebastian Abbot
Associated Press
Friday, December 26, 2008
Islamabad, Pakistan - Pakistan began moving thousands of
troops to the Indian border Friday, intelligence officials
said, sharply raising tensions triggered by the Mumbai
terror attacks.
India has blamed Pakistani-based militants for last month's
siege on its financial capital, which killed 164 people and
has provoked an increasingly bitter war of words between
nuclear-armed neighbors that have fought three wars in 60
years....

Not safe to be in Pakistan: India tells its citizens
PTI
Friday, December 26, 2008
Indraprasth aka New Delhi - India on Friday advised its
nationals to avoid travelling or being in Pakistan, fearing
their persecution in the wake of media reports there that
some Indians have been accused of terror attacks and
arrested. The external affairs ministry said while
Pakistani media has claimed arrest of several Indian
nationals in Lahore and Multan over the last two days, the
police have expressed ignorance, indicating that it could
be the handiwork of agencies which operate outside the
civilian control in that country. The statement by external
affairs ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash came after media
reports in Pakistan claimed that...

US urging calm over possible Pakistan troop moves
By Lolita C. Baldor, Associated Press Writer
Associated Press
Friday, December 26, 2008
Washington - U.S. officials watched with growing concern
Friday as reports suggested Pakistan was massing troops to
the India border. Such a move raises double-barreled
worries: A possible confrontation between two nuclear
powers and a shift by the Pakistani military away from
battling the Taliban along its western Afghan edge. "We
hope that both sides will avoid taking steps that will
unnecessarily raise tensions during these already tense
times," said White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe. U.S.
military leaders have been urging both India and Pakistan
to exercise restraint in the wake of the deadly Mumbai
attacks that many believe originated...

Pakistan cancels troops' leave over India tension
Reuteurs
Friday, December 26, 2008
Pakistan's army has cancelled leave and ordered troops to
report to duty because of tension with old rival India over
last month's militant attacks in Mumbai, a military
official and soldiers said on Friday. Tension has escalated
between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India since 179 people
were killed in a militant assault on several places in
India's financial hub that India has blamed on Pakistan-
based militants. "Leave has been cancelled because of the
situation. All soldiers have been asked to report to duty,"
said a military official who declined to be identified.

Hoosiers file suit challenging Obama's birth status
By Tim Evans
Indy.com
Thursday, December 25, 2008
As officials in Washington prepare for the inauguration of
President-elect Barack Obama, two Indiana men have filed a
lawsuit asking a judge to throw out the election results.
The suit, filed in Marion Superior Court, Room 10, is among
five loosely coordinated challenges that question Obama's
status as a "natural born citizen." Gov. Mitch Daniels and
the Republican and Democratic national committees are named
as defendants in the Indiana suit, filed by Steve Ankeny,
New Castle, and Bill Kruse, Ro...
