For those of us who have been watching the CIA directed Tibet Drama
for years, the current "pretests" came as no surprise at all.
I have noticed increasing funding of the Xinjiang separatists by US
gov. I am a bit surprised that they havn't shown up yet.

Xinjiang separatists are Muslims, CIA would not want to promote to back fire !

It is no surprise that the US is funding an insurgency in Xinjiang. Anyone
willing to distabilise or break up China is more than welcome. The US is
willing to provide financial aids and weapons. They did this with Chen Sui
Bian of Tiawan. They are courting the Viets now. They provide arms to Saddam
to attack Iran. Then they hand SADDAM to Shite thugs to hang him. Now, the
US is courting the Sunnis to go after the Shites. Mwanwhile, the US keep
themselves busy siphoning all the OIlL they could get their hands on. In
Afghanistan, the US armed the Taliban againgts the Soviets. They then
destroy the Taliban and put up therir own puppet who allow the US to lay a
pipeline to steal Central Asian OIL.
The US is the number rogue nation and it will end when the US is financially
bankrupt. It is getting there soon!

Thanks for the history lesson. My understanding is this support has

The US sometimes runs its foreign policy in strange ways. Just
becasue the CIA has had a very long involvement in Tibet, it's treated
as the CIA's tuft even today, whereas it should have been the State
Department's. You can hardly find any Sate Department footprints in
US Tibetan policy.
The US should have long ago (at least by 1972, when the training camp
for Tibetan guerillas in Colorado was closed down) taken the Tibetan
porfolio from the CIA and handed it to the State Department.
The CIA sees itself, naturally enough, as an instrument of war, and so
it doesn't try to come up with any win-win proposal. Would China even
consider anything less than a win-win proposal?
