Chinese Urge Anti-West Boycott Over Tibet Stance
By ANDREW JACOBS and JIMMY WANG
BEIJING ― Armed with her laptop and her indignation, Zhu Xiaomeng sits
in her dorm room here, stoking a popular backlash against Western
support for Tibet that has unnerved foreign investors and Western
diplomats and, increasingly, the ruling Communist Party.
Over the last week, Ms. Zhu and her classmates have been channeling
anger over anti-China protests during the tumultuous Olympic torch relay
into a boycott campaign against French companies, blamed for their
country’s support of pro-Tibetan agitators. Some have also called for a
boycott against American chains like McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

I suspect that Ms. Zhu made the statement in Chinese, used "FaGuoRen",
which should be more appropriately translated to "the French", instead
of "the French people".
We should respect other people and their countries. "to give the
French people a lesson" is too strong, IMHO. Majority of the French
people, the silent majority, have little to do with the Olympia
boycott. They are suffering silently, in a way, because the government
spends their hard earned tax money and attention to support Dalai
Lama, in stead of to improve their country and society.

And what precisely are you so mad about that? That the Tibetans want
their country back, and don't want to be a part of China? That they're
tired of your soldiers occupying their country? If Tibet (and Taiwant)
don't want to be part of China, that's going to have to be an idea
you're going to have to get used to one day. You can delay it as long
as you like, but it's not going away. Ask the Israelis if Palestinian
nationalism eventually went away.

You have obviously never heard of the American War of Secession, in
which more Americans died than any other wars. All because of what ?
