A huge military exercise, codenamed " MALABAR" involving India and the US,
vessels from Singapore, Japan and Australia are slated to participate in the
coming month.
INDIA's main leftist party which has stood firm in its opposition to the
civilian nuclear accord with the US, will widen the issue with protests
against next month's five-nation naval exercises in the Bay of Bengal.
Military exercise are dress rehearsal for planned military incursions
againgst a perceived enemy. The question is who is the enemy? Russia?
Pakistan? Bangladesh? China?
One does not need rocket science and IBM super computers to analyse the
situation and arrive at a logical conclusion.
So, if China is the perceived threat, why is the Republic of Singapore Navy
doing in the Bay of Bengal? Is this the way to treat a friend? Would joining
a clearly anti-China military alliance help further the economic interest of
Singapore?
