Ma said no independence..and he is seen to revert
those moves by Chen ..towards independence.
including being friendly to Beijing...and improve
co-operation with Beijing.
Are there many Taiwanese or media who protest
his moves..to be friend and cooperate with Beijing ?

Majority of Taiwanese want good relationship with China and vast
majority of Taiwanese share same view with Ma: no independence and NO
unification. Ma has said he does not expect unification in his
lifetime. I too oppose unification.

So Chen was wrong to push the independence issue.
He was an idiot. Ma is smarter than him.

The trouble with Taiwan politics is...it is like the
bamboo in the wind...it bends towards the
direction of the wind.

Ma is no difference...against the voices of those
against reunification, he had to be seen as against
reunification...unless he was prepared no to forego
their votes. He was not stupid!

Like most politicians, what he says is one thing
and what he does is another. So far he is moving
closer to Beijing...and away from the USA. How
far will he go, no one can tell now.

Ma is not moving toward Beijing or move away from the US. We Taiwanese
want to have good relationship with this bad neighbor called China and
want to keep good relationship with the US in case something happens,
the US will help Taiwan.

Not moving towards China? How do you explain the
recent opening of Charter flights, currency exchange,
talks with Beijing..etc...etc...etc.

Not moving away from the USA? How do you
explain US's reaction...the attempt to freeze arms
sales to Taiwan.
I see it as...the USA is not happy with Ma...to punish
him...for giving up on the independence issue....
Punish him for daring to stand up to the USA,... not to
kowtow to US wishes...like the puppy dog, Chen.

1. Establishing air link to China is for Taiwan not for China. Taiwan
has to open its door to every nation.

2. As for USA-Taiwan relationship, it can never be better than it was
last 8 years. Here are two links, read it!

Not only that, Taiwan also has strong relationship with Japan so when
Taiwan needs help, USA and Japan will help us.

The U.S. can not even help herself. How can she help Taiwan?

The USA can not help herself against a band of terrorists hiding in
Pakistan. Japan hasn't had any military power for the last 50 years.
They can not help Taiwan. It's only wishful thinking.
