RAK has nothing against China's cars or car manufacturing. (In fact he
thinks it's a good thing that China's growth is close to 10%% per year.
Lots of investment opportunity. And stocks are pretty high - hopefully
NK nukes will not destabilize things.)

If you want know what RAK thinks: he thinks that most American cars are
crap anyway. It's probably a good thing if Ford or GM downsizes and
then just do something they're good at rather than producing hulks of
garbage. Frankly it probably does the world more good if they close
down. You'll be happy then - China can take over. RAK can live with
Japanese cars, and prefers many German ones to Japanese. The top
Italian ones probably beat the German ones but overall Germans as a
group are winners. Come think of it, even a non-AMG Mercedes (What? A
C-Class [Cheap Class] Mercedes!! <>) is preferable compared
to American cars. At least Chinese cars, no matter how crap, are *new*
products, so renting one for a month may not be a bad idea. American
cars? Pieces of shit.

In the sense that most American cars are cheap (but that goes for a
number of cars too, including Chinese and Korean cars), but also
because Consumer Reports Top Ten Cars are all Japanese, and domestics
are shut out.

According to this criteria, most Japanese cars are also crap because
they are relative cheap in comparison with brands like Bentley which
are also crap because they are relative cheap in comparison with other
brands.

Americans have improved their reliability yet still fall short to Honda
and Toyota. American trucks are more durable than Japanese though.
American cars use more steel in their chassis than Japanese, Japanese
tend to be stingy with steel. Also Japanese use a lot of cheap
materials in their frames, but Japanese build quality is outstanding.
Interior fit and finish of Japanese cars (the big three at least) is
good to excellent. But for the same price of the big 3 Japanese you
can have a bigger American car with bigger engines. Japanese can build
more reliable cars by saving materials due to smaller vehicle size.
Smaller size translate to better fuel economy. But given the size of
American cars, their fuel economy is considered good. American sports
cars are still better than Japanese any...
