Dharamsala: AS 26 JUNE 2007 marks the tenth anniversary of the UN
International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the Tibetan Centre for
Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) commemorates the day in support of
victims of torture throughout the world.
Torture is one of the severest forms of human rights abuses, taking a
terrible toll on millions of individuals and their families across the
globe. In Chinese occupied Tibet, torture is endemic in the network of
prisons and detention centres across the plateau. According to TCHRD
documentation, the Chinese authorities' systematic use of torture has
resulted in the death of 89 known Tibetan political prisoners since 1987.

It's rather myopic to believe that economy growth is the only thing
keeps the CCP in power.

Tales of terror
Since 1986 when China signed the United Nations Convention Against Torture,
there are 60 known Tibetan political prisoners who have died as a result of
torture while in detainment or prison.
Although torture during detainment is predominantly physical abuse, it can
have permanent psychological damage for survivors. The testimonies that
follow are accounts from people who have survived torture during detainment
and in prison. Torture in detainment is usually coupled with interrogations
and can be anything from being forced to stand in a freezing room to
beatings and electric shocks inflicted with electric cattle prods. Most
detainees have endured a variety of techniques.

Those are the very people that depends on "social security benefits"
to live, benefits paid by todays workers for today's retirees. Many
people also depends on social wellfare and unemployment benefits,
medicare and medicaid paid by the states and federal government.
Also, many retirees got pension plans from large corporations and
government agencies. All these and many more are socialist ideas.
America is getting more and more socialist while China is getting more
and more capitalist. Both we meet in the middle.

China : Missing Children and an Underground Slave Trade
China is keen to project a positive image with the 2008 Olympics just around
the corner. Crackdowns on the press, the closing of NGO's and the arrests of
free Tibet protesters and AIDS activists, doesn't help to create the best
impression. Nor does the requirement that the press report "only good news"
in the lead up to an important meeting of the Communist party.
Recently a founding member of the China Democracy Party (now banned), Chen
Shuqing, was found guilty of "inciting people to overthrow the government".
Reporters Without Borders have been watching developments in China closely,
and they claim that the courts simply take their walking orders from the
Communist party. When a trial is political in China, the chances of getting
anything close to a fair and unbiased hearing are close to zero. Verdicts
are routinely rigged in accordance with preferred official outcomes. The
crackdown on democracy activists extends also to so-called "cyber
dissidents" who have increasingly been targeted by authorities.
The face China presents to the world of a vibrant emerging power open for
business, masks the corruption and outright criminality that is either
ignored or tolerated by the system, until it breaks out into the open and
becomes impossible to ignore.

Efforts on the part of the People's Republic of China to consolidate its
control over Tibet continues unabated.
The new Qinghai-Tibet railway (which makes use of BSP cars manufactured by
Bombardier), is a political move geared toward strengthening Chinese
influence and control over Tibet. The political scheming behind the project
is underlined by the skepticism expressed by Chinese president Hu Jintao
about the tourist value of the railway.
The Western China Development policy, is another aspect of Beijing's reach.
The policy will be used to justify the creation of infrastructure in an
effort to extend PRC control over Tibet, rather than make any concessions to
the "Middle Way" solution being proposed by Dharamsala-based Tibetan
government-in-exile.

You are so uneducated, Meichi, that your posts scream out for proof-
reading, and your allegations were never proven. Haha! Once a whore,
always a whore, and you are an ugly Thai whore.
Hey Meichi, aka pathological liar abianchen! Why don't you tell us how
you cheated the U.S. Immigration and stayed in the USA as an illegal
alien to work as a prostitute in NYC, after being kicked out from
Taipei as a failed model? Was it because you were short and ugly? Go
on - tell us. I'm sure your Thai whore friends back home want to
follow your footsteps.
