Floods Isolate 20,000 in Honduras
Tegucigalpa, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) Nearly 20,000 Hondurans remained
isolated Friday by floods caused by Hurricane Felix.
Unlike Nicaragua, destruction was not as monumental in Honduras where
preliminary reports are of minor damage to the infrastructure.
Cabinet Minister Yani Rosenthal said the country does not need
international aid and the government sent humanitarian relief to
Nicaragua.
El Progreso Mayor Alexander Lopez called on authorities to aid the
people isolated by the floods in that northern city.
Outbreaks of epidemics, particularly of leptospirosis, remain a major
concern for Honduran health officials, while rescue copters search the
flooded coasts of La Mosquitia for bodies.
