Thanks for the replies. Obviously my questions has not been answered to
the degree which I'd like. It's nobody's fault. It's just the lack of
resources available to the public. It's would be interesting if
PROFESSIONALS trades from Laos can participate in web site such as this
so that exchanges of useful information can be shared. Unfortunately,
only a few PRIVILEGE folks in the LPDR ranks can be here.

Thanouxay, would you be able to reference me to any Laos lumber
manufactures that I can inquire more information on their products? A
web site would be great?

Laos' dwelling codes. I know finding the answer to my questions will
be next to non-existent. Nonetheless, I'll ask anyway.

Is there a "STANDARD" residential building codes established in the
housing construction industry in Laos. In other words, does Laos has a
building codes like we have in the states, the IRC [International
Residential Code]?. If there is such regulations, where can I find more
information?

My second question is what are the standard lumber sizes uses in the
residential building codes? e.g. 2x4, 2x6, 2x12, etc. I know that
different country might utilize different lumber dimensions, but I'd
like to know what sizes of lumbers does the lumber yards in Laos
produced.

If anyone have any information about this request, please don't hesitat
sharing them here.
Thanks in Advance.

Jim

Yeah, the code is if the building falls and kills you than you don't
need to worry about the code anymore because you are already dead.

Jim and friends,

Although I am not an expert in construction but nevertheless I can tell
you that yes, there is a Standard Building Code in Lao PDR. Before one
can build any residential or anyother type of building including
industrial building need to have a detailed design plan certified by an
authorised architect office in Lao PDR and get it submitted to the
Vientiane Urban Development and Administration Authorities (VUDAA) for
consideration and approval.

Here are among others some basic rules to comply with:

1. Your building has to be built ten metres from urban electrical
line;
2. Your building has to be a certain distance from your fence;
3. In general the height of a building should not exceed 25 metres;
