St. Paul, MN

It's still early and they cannot officially file until July of 2007,
but prospective candidates for city council seats in St. Paul began the
process by filing statements of organization so that they can start
raising campaign money.

Pakou Hang, once a staff member in the late Senator Wellstone's office
and campaign worker for State Senator Mee Moua, is hoping to vie for
city council representation of District 6. If all go as planned, Ms.
Hang will be running against longterm incumbant and former policeman
Dan Bostrom.

Mr. Bostrom is a neighborhood stalwart whose roots in the community run
deep. But with the changing demographic of new immigrants the base
that no longer resembles the one that catapulted him into office.

So look forward to the next council race to be a spirited one and hope
that Ms. Hang comes out triumphant!

Some corrections.

Ms. Pakou Hang was NOT a staff member of the late Paul Wellstone's
office. She was Deputy Political Director for the 2004 Wellstone for
Senate Campaign. And, she was an organizer for Progressive Minnesota,
"a broad-based coalition of organizations and grassroots activists
working statewide to build political power, by effectively combining
grassroots organizing, coalition-building, public policy advocacy, and
electoral work."

Ms. Pakou Hang was the Campaign Manager for State Senator Mee Moua when
she was first elected to office in 2002.
