New road brings changes for the better

A decade ago, people living in Xanakham district, Vientiane province,
and in Paklai district, Xayaboury province, had to take a boat down
the Mekong to get to Vientiane . It was a long, difficult and
dangerous journey.

Today, the residents of these formerly isolated districts are happy
with a new 210km road that has been carved through a mountain chain to
link the small communities with the nation's capital.

Ms Bounmy Sengrattana, 38, is one of those who live in this area. She
says that since the road has been built, she can get to Vientiane much
more easily and quickly. But, she says, this road is not just a means
of transport.

Over the past few years, she has witnessed a lot of changes in the
village; trading and business has developed along the roadside,
bringing with it cultural integration and a measure of economic
prosperity.

Some people have set up small shops in their homes, selling just a few
items such as candy for the children, soap and locally made dried
buffalo skin.

The only good change for Laos for the communist government to step down
and let a new democratic government come into power. Otherwise, there
is nothing good about Laos. Laos should not be a prostitute for
Vietnam, Thailand, and Vietnam.

DJK, Death Jail Killer,

This new foreign road should has been longer and better for LPDR can
transport Budhhalismt to murder the Hmong and good to transport
hookers around. Is this the road your LPDR transfer the 13 Hmong
Children from Thailand to heaven and the road that your LPDR use to
murdered three Hmong America on October 8, 2007?

This is the road, the LPDR asked foreign to build for LPDR to
transport trees, bamboo, human traffice, $600 per Hmong Head, $5,000
for Hmong Elders.

listhoj1,

The Lao Government will NOT negotiate with the Terrorist. You can
please stop with your empty threat, already. It's getting old. First
of all you don't even have a bazooka and if you do the Fed will
probably pay you a courtesy visit like they did with your King Vang
Pao and Ten other Terror Suspects. You're starting to sounds like
those juvenal Hmong street gangs that prey on their own kind. You
wanna be a tough guy? Put the money in you mouth were it counts and go
back to Laos and fight. Don't worry about your wife. I'm sure your
male sibling and cousins would love to take a good care of her while
you were gone.

WOW!!!

Why all the hostilness. :)

Stupid people talk... "think come think go", negative people only
brings about negative things in life in thoughts and action and
especially the mouth. Obviously some other issues going on, on
personal front to be so messed up in way of thinking.

I am really glad that the road has created such oopurtunities for my
fellow Hmong and Laos as a country. With all great things, will come
the shadows and hardships and negative things. But I do believe that
all things happen for a reason. Even with the bad things that can
come out of it, also come more oppurtunity for those that has the
heart and passion to make changes.

Thank God.

Yep, Change for the better???

Since commie took over our Laos, there has been so many changes. Viet
takes all lands in the south, chinese takes all land in the north.
They turn the whole country into lakes, daming for pennies that will
leave two to three generations of Laotian folks to pay for these
debts. Chinese will surely acquire more lands throughout the country
as it Commie cannot pay back its own debts. Like the Land next to
That Luang recently is given to China for use as mean of debt
repayment for the next 100 years. This is the change for the
better...Laotians surely become foreigner slaves in their native
country. They will definitely rent lands from foreigners in their own
country...surely that is the true change..

I could have ask good well donnors' fundings, and our team of civil
engineers can upgrade roads, airports, and infrastructures, build
schools (donated used computers), hospitals, purify water treatment
plants etc. without turn the whole country into lakes, not borrowing
billions of dollars for these projects, yet still preserving those
god- made natural beauty landscapes, where Laotians can make billions
of dollars from tourists through simple tourist accommodations.
