Laura,
I am listening to you in the radio, and wondered about things that happen to
you.
I allow myself to write to you this message knowing that I will be receiving
criticism after on behalf of you, too fast to answer to whoever come closer
to you.
But I have great compassion for what is happening to you.
Tonight, I feel you are facing more than any Hmong womean have ever faced
within the Hmong political groups.
I also do see any support from the Hmong women group, not for you have done,
but more for the gender issue that implies many sexism and discrimination
behind the critics.
Please, take a break, listen to others, and do not answer words by words to
all criticism.
You are using the American political approach and the stigma of minorities
women incapable to keep your tongue (piv poj niam ua tshis) to cope the
issue, but, you are facing strong groups that do not have only political
interests, but also represent symbols in the Hmong community, and know how
to manipulate symbols to face other people.

Laura, the Hmong Heroine,
God must have sent you to earth to help the Hmong people in this new
generation. You have done so much to help the plight of the Hmong
people at Ban Huay Nam Khao, while facing character assassination and
criticism by our own people.
It is a good idea that you should listen to other people's advice
such as what Kao Ly Yang suggested, but I feel that you are on the
right track at the right time, especially after listening to you on the
radio. I agreed that you have said nothing but the truth. I don't
know you very much but you seemed to be a reasonable woman who plays by
the rule of the law and not rule of the jungle.
When I read your post about how you had fought with your old friend at
the U.N, I thought to myself what a childish behavior these two
professional women demonstrated, which would give a bad record at the
U.N. Security Dept. Now, I understand that your love and loyalty for
our fellow Hmong by not wanting anyone to sell their story for
beneficial profit was the reason that led you to lose control and to
fight like a young Hmong Heroine to protect yourself and our people.

As leaders we must not be like G.W. Bush and be divisive If I may, I
like to suggest a book that all leaders should read. "The First 90
Days" by Michael Watkins. It talks about being a successful leader and
over coming issues that she or he may encounter.

Nyob zoo, Kao Ly Yang,
I am a Hmoob living in America and consider myself American since I've
lived in America all my life. I went to school with caucasian English
speakers, befriended them and lived with them in their mainstream life.
I've never been to France and I do not know the French. I only know
that we, the Americans, don't like French much. I'm thinking that this
may be an idea where you've gotten some of your biases from since you
did mention about your apprehensions about Hmoob Americans in your
post. I am sure that in your French schooling, French teachers must've
bickered about the Americans and their way of dealing things.
As for the Hmoob women in America, I do agree with you that there are
Hmoob women who may have acted like what you've described in your post.
However, I disagree with you when you mentioned about your Hmoob
French heart as making you differ from the Hmoob American women.
As I see it, Hmoob women having such behaviours as you've described is
REGARDLESS of their place of residency. I am sure you're aware of such
studies disproving generalization of concepts such as your biases of
our Hmoob American women.

zhen,
You are right about that. All I hear is that Hmoob French buying green
card to reside in America. From what I've heard through the grapevine,
there were Hmoob French paying $10,000 American dollars to individuals
so they can have green card to stay, live and work in America. Funny,
huh? I have yet to hear about Hmoob Americans paying Hmoob French for
green card.
