The Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement saying it
is pleased with the ceasefire between Russia and Georgia and hopes the
situation will be resolved peacefully.
On August 8 a conflict erupted in South Ossetia between Russian and
Georgian troops, killing and wounding many. Tens of thousands have
fled their homes and numerous villages were destroyed.
“ Laos has followed the situation with extremely concern,” the
statement read.
“At present, Laos is pleased to know the shooting has been stopped and
hopes those involved will continue to negotiate to resolve the issue
amicably in accordance with treaties between Russia , South Ossetia
and Georgia , which were agreed to in 1992 to protect stability and
peace.”

The Russia, Georgia and South Ossetia conflict is just a pretext to
show its muscle, in reality, it is all about the ballistic missile
defense system installing in that region.

I do agree with that was one of roots to the conflict
How about a NATO member proposed to Georgia by Ucle Sam?
Plus himself Georgian president who was educated in US and came back

What? pleased? Didn't he watch CNN, they have signed it but the
bullets are still flying. The Russians are still shooting while
claiming that they have stopped. It's like denying it while Georgian
building crumbles from explosions. You can deny all you want the
world is not stupid they know you're lying.

NATO is not a bad idea. It's a bit late for Russia to reunify the
Soviets Union and their satellite states, either by peaceful way or by
force. Those eastern European countries suffered so much from that
cruel communism regime. Remember "The Gulag Archipelago" by Aleksandr
Solzhenitsyn.

Again, it may be a good idea to side with Uncle
Sam"ຄັນຊີເປັນຂ້ອຍໃຫ້ເປັນຂ້ອຍພະຍາ". Laos should take Japan for example
and forget about that sour past. I still remember, once the honorable
Sisavad Keobounphane had said "No Dollars, no way out!".
