Global Peace Index (GPI) is ranking Thailand this year at 118th out of
140 peaceful countries, while neighbouring countries such as Vietnam,
Laos and Cambodia have higher rankings of 37, 51 and 91 respectively.
These organizations prepare GPI's report - The Economist Intelligence
Unit, an international panel of peace experts from peace institutes
and think tanks, and the University of Sydney's Centre for Peace and
Conflict Studies. Their stated purpose is to "highlight the
relationship between Global Peace and Sustainability (stressing that)
unless we can achieve" a peaceful world, humanity's major challenges
won't be solved.
GPI uses 24 indicators to rank nations according to their relative
internal and external peacefulness. They include their:
- military expenditures as a percent of GDP and number of armed
service personnel per 100,000 population;
- relations with other countries;
- respect for human rights;
- potential for terrorist acts;
- number of homicides per 100,000 population, including infanticide;
- level of violent crime;

Hmong-Lao, you are one of the smart ones of us all here on SCL and
SCH. I think Laos is improving everyday and anyone with with half a
brain can see what we see. The world moves forward every day and it
is a shame that some of us are left behind.
Your friend,
Larry

Looking at the index, it is not all positive for Laos. In fact, there
is much to improve. Examples:
1. Respect for Human Rights: Laos received a 3, which translates:
Imprisonment for political activity is more extensive. Politically-
motivated executions or other political murders and brutality are
common. Unlimited detention, with or without a trial, for political
views is also commonplace;
2. Electoral Process: From a scale of 1-10, with 1 for no free
elections; and a 10 for elections that voters are free to vote for
anyone they wish, Laos received a "0". That's right, 0. Laos score
is off the chart for having no free elections.
3. Civil liberties: Laos received 1.2 = meaning, civil liberties are
nearly non-existent.
4. Corruption Perception: Laos received 1.9 = meaning Lao officials
are HIGHLY corrupt.
We should not celebrate blindly and prematurely.

This think tank group is B. Shit. As a researcher myself, I call this
group " Research Bias". Look at where they are coming from? Wow
"Sydney". The bigest Gold investors/explorers in Laos. You know why
LPDR is number 57? B.cause these think like a tank knew nothing about
LPDR's dirty concepts of " we don't know, we don't see, we don't have
it, and we don't do it". Sometimes, we need to educate these so
called B shit think like a tank.

Until Laos has multiple election parties, and all murders at all levels get
punished by Lao law, Lao will never achieved stability and prosperity.
