Army secures fruits of revolution
The Lao people would have no country of their
own or the freedom to determine their own fate as farmers, workers or
business people if not for the armed forces.
From its birth on January 20, 1949, to the present, the Lao People's
Army has played an important role under the leadership of the Lao
People's Revolutionary Party, in the fight against French colonialists
and interference by the United States of America .
The Party successfully liberated and protected the nation and its
people. Today, the Lao People's Army has grown to several divisions
equipped with modern weapons to defend the nation.
But the history of the Lao army in way resembles the story of a person
walking on a path of roses.
The Lao People's Revolutionary Army was formed by a dozen Lao
revolutionaries, who declared they had to take up arms to remove the
foreign occupiers. The first commander of this military unit was
President Kaysone Phomvihane.

Or is it the ARMY that supports the regime which suppresses the people
and it's potential growth. An army is only good if it's used for just
purposes .
