Book outlines new funeral rites for Hmong Catholics
Nine-year project culminates in ceremony featuring Bishop Listecki

The Rev. Steve Brice stands in the center aisle, slowly scanning the
nearly 200 Hmong faces staring majestically at some items resting on a
table in the left corner near the altar at the Church of St. Anne.

Near the table, Bishop Jerome Listecki holds an open folder in one hand
while sprinkling holy water on the items with the other. It only takes
a few minutes, and afterward, audience members smile and looks to the
future of their culture.

already had...LOL! there must be a new God, the god that will accept
your own way of life style with little effort at the end to send you to
heaven.

Bishop Listecki was mistaken when he said, " Traditionally, Hmong
believe in animism -- the belief in individuals spirits -- and, after
the funeral ceremony, send the soul of the decreased to rest with an
ancient dark spirit, Listecki said." perhaps, the new hmong catholics
told him difference, but i dont think that the way he expressed have
any true in the hmong culture and traditional. this is absord and bald
statement as this from a Bishop....would any hmong man agree with? So,
this is new revalation bible to guide a hmong catholics to
heaven....LOL! god must say it and told them to write a new way of
approaching in religion....would this conclude that everything is men
made and men are their own God?

Again, you can see that they created the book intend to keep Hmong
culture and tradition a live, but never, again, claim that it's for
religion. Can religion and cultural co exist? Yes, but you have to be
able to understand the differences between culture and religion. For
instance, this case, the Catholic creates a magic bait that will catch
all the Hmong without an unknown destination.
