Tsujsua Dluag,
When you laig, you are conscienous of the spirit, dead parents or the
spiritual force. It is a constant reminder of calling them to ensure
that they are around to protect which is go have plenty of food to eat
and to have a good health.
Fiv yeem is a step beyong what the spirit of the dead parents can do.
it is reaching ourt to the spiritual force that over see the well being
of man, if man belief such spiritual power.
When the parents die, their spirits become the external force. they
become gods, but are they the same as God, if you belief there is one.
Man is his own god, and the dead father's spirit will aways a god to
his son.
Let's get back to the origin of hmong religion:
Hmong legendary had the story of "ob muag nus" came from heaven to
earth seeking the childless couples and end up bearing children for
them. that does not show that hmong was once a hunting and food
gathering people.
Hmong couple of the flood story, the birht of all the differently cland
or xeem, did not not show that hmong was hunter and food gathering
either.
Ntuj khaib qhuab was once hmong's dweling place for 1000 years and
where shamism started. that too does not show that hmong were hunter
and food gathering people either.
The yellow river, china when hmong had a history, but not out of her
writing shows that, hmong live a farm life and raise chichen and pigs
etc.
