I remember my brother and cousin talked about a Hmong student
organization in Vientiane back in the 60s and 70s but it seems that
very few people khow about it. What I heard was that it started in
the late 60s and that VP and Touby used to provide financial support
for their annual new year banquet in those early years. Please share
what you know as how and who started it and how long did it last.
Thanks in advance for sharing.

Peace Always,
HK

Big deal there are ton of Hmong Students organization today and they
get their money from student fees There has to come to a point where
we have to just let the past go. It's eating people up. Let the past
be, it can't be change no matter how much we study it. Let's
concentrate on making our lives here in the US better, forget old
Vientiane, forget Vientiane period, there's nothing there, heck the
tallest building is no more than 6 stories.

Pab neb ob twg menyuam zoo siab uas neb muaj opportunity los hais cov
lus kom txaus nkaus tam tau neb tej kev chim kev dhuav cov phaum laus
tej kev sib nug moo. Nyaj neb hais tag neb lub me plawv yuav nqig
thiab lub me siab yuav sib khuav tuaj lawm yom? I'm glad you had the
opportunity to unload. Now take a deep breath and take it easy...

Since you seem content to forget the past and are in fact advocating
that the past be forgotten by everyone. I thought I'd shared with you
this famous quote by George Santayana "Those who do not remember the
past are condemned to repeat it". What do you think about his
statement?

By the way, I do not think the organization was only for the Lycee
students because cov ntxhais Hmoob kawm ntawv nyob nrog cov phauj
Catholic pem Nongbone uas kawm lwm luv schools twb tau koom thiab.
So, already you have been misinformed.

Peace Always,

Cat and Yoojyim,

I would like to share a story with the two of you. At one point of my
life, armed with a western education, I though that I knew more than any
old Hmong men born on the mountain top of Laos. I would occasional humor
them and strike up a conversation; but never really listened to them. I
though what could they possibly teach me?

Then one day, out of boredom, I decided that I would listen to them. As I
listened, I became intrigued. My intrigue turned into respect and my
respect turned into admiration. I realize that they had forgotten more
then what I knew.

For example; one old man whom I have known all my life, although he has
never mentioned a word of it, through my research of old French archives,
I found that by the age of 17 he was put in charge of over 10,000 people.
By the age of 20 he was awarded with not one but three Croix de Guerre.
That’s the equivalent of receiving three Congressional Medals of Honors.
We know they don’t give those out just to anyone.

As I recall, at the age of seventeen, I could barely tell my left from my
right.

I don't think I was disrespecting those that attended Lycee or was I
forgetting the past. If it's was relevant to today then sure, if not
let's just move on. That's all I was saying. If it's the same as
Harvard or Yale, then I say let's put that great education to use. I
know some Harvard and Yale guys, they're not that much different from
the local U guys. Just a bigger student loan bill.
