Health issue - a major killer - Hypertension

Two of the most common health problems that our people are facing are
Hypertension (high blood pressure) and Diabetes. These two diseases
are increasing fast among our people who live overseas - and even in
Laos (based on the data from the Heart Institute in Mahosot Hospital
in Vientiane).

Let's look at hypertension...

Hypertension is now begin to be responsible for more deaths among our
people and no doubt that many families have suffered the pain and
agony of their loved one with stroke.

For most patients, hypertension can be attributed to a combination of
genetic and lifestyle factors. In a minority, it is secondary to other
disease processes. In the case of the Lao-Hmong population, it is my
guest that our people may have the genetic predisposition for
hypertension and as we adopt the "good life" of the west, it is the
trigger that spark this fast surge of hypertension.

Doc,

I’m not a doc, but let me give some of the best advice and my expert
opinion in regard to this very issue that affected our Hmong people
that live overseas, and the lacking of our very own experience and
expertise of this health concern. Living in the west for 29 years, I
had encounter many elements, such as you had stated above. Here are
the reasons to support why the majority of Hmong people are having
these health problems:

The number 1 contributor and killer to this health issue are
depression and stresses. The number of elders who arrived in this
country—they were lacking in many skills, such as language barrier,
living...

Doc,

education plays a major factor on this health problem as well, not
only that we need to insist the hmong people to see/visit Doc, but as
it is for personal well-being and growth.

how many hmong patients do you deal with? are most your patients
ethnic hmong?

i deal with a lot of hmong patients too, and in the beginning, it
seemed very difficult just to communicate or express a health concept
from western medicine to a hmong worldview. even the hmong medical
dictionaries i have did not help much.

what's the medical term for phob vog? i have heard layman references
such as "bloating". i think i even heard "edema" too. thov pab qhia
seb.

about "tim dab". qhov no yog tias koj muaj mob, ib co hmoob xav tias
vim raug dab los vim tej dab poj yawm txwv txoob xav noj xav haus. for
example, a patient phob phob vog and went to the physician. the...

Edema may be the right word for phob vog.

As for the tim dab, tej no mas yeej muaj tshheb thiab tabsis Hmoob kuj
keej txhaus thiab kuj tsis ruam txog tej no. Tej mob tim dab, tim plig
or the like yeej muaj tgiag tabsis it is better to make that
conclusion after all the medical investigations have been exhausted
and no identifiable cause can be found nor no explanation for the
condition.

One of my other specialty is psychological medicine and if any one
know anything about this branch of medicine then it is easy to
understand or explain the "cure" as you mentioned in your post.

To talk in simple term, we can say that there are at least 4 level
that we can call upon or target to treat illness: the spirit (quantum
energy - in the roam of quantum physic), the mind, the body and...
