Grass is greener on the green
Good news for golfers — Swedish researchers report that a regular
stroll down the fairways could add five years to your life.
Using a registry of golf club members and a national mortality
registry, including 300,000 golfers, they found the standardized
mortality ratios were 40%% lower in players. The effects were seen in
all age groups and genders, although the most skilled players had the
lowest mortality, the researchers say.
They argue that the decreased mortality rates are most likely to be a
result of the physical activity associated with playing golf.
