Sooner or later you'll run into someone who cites, typically with
vitriolic fulminating passion, Alfred McCoy's book, THE POLITICS OF
HEROIN as proof-positive of the evil, repugnant nature of American
'intervention' in SE Asia. It is, to the unschooled and ill-informed,
very convincing and seemingly documented to the hilt.
Here is a review dissecting the book(?) and pointing out its
flaws. Note at end of review is citation from the Church Committee
Hearings stating no evidence has been found of CIA/Hmong drug
trafficking.

tsoomhm...
it is so sad for we have been relying on others to tell our stories,
especially when someone step onto our village for only a months worth
of time and claimed to be expert on our lives and we do nothing about
it...by doing nothing about it validated her/his claim. I encourage us
all to remember that others have the options and luxuries to make a
living by associating or learning about our lives, but we don't have
that same luxury nor options...it's our lives...
interesting critiques on the long and over due controversial created
by dr. mccoy...

Can someone challenge McCoy and make him eat his words? This is what
they say.. if you don't write your history, outsiders will. And you may
not like it.
