In recent months, I have noticed that more Hmong and Lao houses owners
in Milwaukee, WI and St. Paul, MN are missing payments, puttting their
houses up for sale to avoid losing them to foreclosure.
My Lao and Hmong friends, Paseuth and Nao Phia just lost their house
last month. It is sad and I felt guilty that I could not help them
except letting them stayed in my house for couple of days unit they
could move into a rental house in the bad neighborhood.
Another very sad thing is that their wives are filing for divorce and
blamming them for not be able to support the family.
And this is not just the end of the story for I am here today in
Sacramento, CA to visit my relatives and friends. I have learned
that many of the Hmong and Lao in California also have faced the same
problems of foreclosure and family problems due to social-economic
pressure.
Many Hmong financial and real estates business also have been impacted
by this economic-crisis. Some had been closed and the number of their
advertise in the two Hmong radio stations in Freshno and one in
Sacramento have been downed for the last three months compared to two
years ago.

It's unfortunate that BAD things happen to GOOD people. When it comes
to economic problem, it's not just a lao or hmong's problem, it's a
NATIONAL's problem. People from all walks of life face the same issue
of "foreclosure", even big, powerful, rich, famous people face
foreclosure in time of economic hardship. Nonetheless, life goes on
and new energy, opportunities will spring from the bad times and life
is reborn all over again.
To answer your question how to avoid foreclosure? MY ADVICE, DON'T
LIVE BEYOND YOUR MEAN AND YOU'LL BE FIND.

The thought that the house in Detroit area is very cheap. My old
friend Bla Ya Kue told me ten years ago that he cashed his house while
I visited him. Most of the Hmong who live near dowtown also had
burned their mortgage according to him.

Yaajyuam,
What do you mean by "burning their mortgage"? How do they burn them?
Peb le mas peb yuav thaus tug nqe poob qegx lawd. Thaus tug nqe nce
sab txaus hab taab tom muaj neeg yuav ces peb muab muag huv si lawm.
Yeej muaj leej puav yuav tau lub caij nqe tsev nce sab heev lawd hab

Lub caij nuav taab tom zoo nqe heev vim tas tej tsev kws luas muag
150k poob lug ua 50-60k tej ntawd lawm xwb. It still continue to go
