When I was young, this folk tale was taught in my school. I didn't
think it had any meaning to it. But now.. I just realize that this
folktale was true. According to the Keo ideologies of how tro take
over Laos, they put it this way:

Step 1. Must clean the forest from big trees down to grasses. This
means, kill all Lao leaders from the king of Laos to average Lao
citizens.

Step 2: Burn it down to ash. This means, wipe out everyone

Step 3: Any left over logs or branches must be cut into pieces and
sold it out. This means they must wipe out all old and left over
leaders and ideologies.

Step 4: Clear all roots to allow place for cultivation: This means
to wipe out Lao cultural heritage and beliefs.

Step 5: Put fences around the farming areas: This means to bring in
more Viet Kong to protect the country.

Step 6: Allow farnmers to plant their seeds: This means allow
Vietnamese to intercept their ideologies and take over the Lao lands.
