STOCKTON - A well-respected leader and longtime advocate for Hmong and
other Southeast Asian refugees is dead after being shot Wednesday
outside his north Stockton office.
Pheng Lo, who for more than 20 years led the Stockton-based Lao Family
Community, was found outside the agency's Hammer Lane office around
5:30 p.m. Wednesday with a gunshot wound to the head, according to an
early police account. He was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center
where he was pronounced dead.
The Stockton Police Department has asked that anyone with information
on the crime call (209) 937-8377."
I worked for him a long time ago as a coordinator. I ran an Asian
Grocery Store in the 90's in Stockton, I was robbed. Luckily, I did
not believe of carry a weapon, I did what I was told and kept my life.

All,
I did call Stockton, according to close relatives, the office was
closed at 5:00PM, every one went home, Pheng was supposed to lock the
doors. Around 5:30PM neighbors heard 3 gun shots. No clue who was
behind the crime yet.
Sad day....Deep condolence to the Lo.
TseemYeej.

Phoojywg,
I know his father while visiting Stockton a few years ago. He is a
well respect man and a leader of the clan, but haven't met Pheng
personaly. My condolence go toward his family and relatives. May
their hearts find peace in time of crises like this.
