Thailand bans assembly of more than five people: state radio
1 hour ago

BANGKOK (AFP) — Thailand on Tuesday banned gatherings of more than
five people in Bangkok, state radio announced, under an emergency
decree invoked after clashes between protesters in the capital left
one dead.

The announcement said that the emergency decree gave the army chief,
General Anupong Paojinda, power to break up any gathering and to force
people to leave any location.

"By invoking this emergency decree, Anupong can ban people from
entering any specific place and can evacuate people from any specific
place," the announcement said.

Embattled Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, who has faced mounting
calls for his resignation, appointed Anupong as chief of a special
team tasked with enforcing the emergency decree.

Thai police called in army reinforcements early Tuesday as thousands
of pro-and anti-government protesters clashed in the capital, leaving
one dead and dozens injured, officials and local media said.

A state of emergency has been declared in Bangkok after one person
died and dozens were hurt in fighting between government supporters
and opponents.

Thai PM Samak Sundaravej has put army commander general Anupong
Paochinda in charge of peacekeeping.

The emergency suspends some liberties and allows the use of the
military force to police the city. The clashes took place near Mr
Sundaravej's office.

he he he!

You see modernized Thai folks speak their own minds and make their
voices heard, not like cave-dwelling Laos leaders think their powers
are in the barrels of their AK-47. Hope the poor, destitute Laotians
will follow thais soon, reclaiming their own governments. Make sure
their leaders serve for their people, and the people don't serve them.

Just wait and see what will happen next. It is very interesting to
watch Thai style of freedom and democracy. Thailand is ruled by the
mop instead of by the elected government. I don't know the Thai
government can inforce the emergency rule without force.

How can thai government control text messaging? Nowaday, people use
their cellphones for text messaging to communicate, they don't need a
physical gathering. Their mister should step down before the mobs
burn the whole cities, airports, transportations down like what french
folks did to France in recent year. This should be a message for Laos
and its master Viets too.

Doh, you are referring to the rioting by those of North African origin
who burnt a few cars in certain areas of high density minority
population, I suppose. Which rag do you read that suggests the burning
of whole cities and airports, or did you just make it all up for
effect? Pathetic.

The priminister will be forced out to resign in a few days. I hoped
all Laonai will have the gut like the Thais people then they will be
free.
