Central Vientiane on high alert for flooding

Author: DKJ

Vientiane authorities were scrambling to flood-proof the city centre
yesterday, attempting to increase protective measures in case the
Mekong River level rises to 15 metres.

Measures already in place were designed to protect Vientiane if the
river rose to 14m. But these precautions were boosted yesterday in
response to forecasts from the Department of Meteorology and
Hydrology, which predict the Mekong River will rise to 14.2m tomorrow.

The Vientiane Flooding and Drought Prevention Committee's Secretariat
Head, Vilasack Nammounty, said technical staff were discussing
preventive measures, including the use of electrical poles or wooden
stilts to help support walls of sandbags. It is hoped reinforcing the
walls will prevent sandbags from being swept away if floodwaters rise
further.

This is the act of phanga Nak, the dragon king's message that you
cannot dam rivers for pennies and take up generations to pay for your
idiotic cave dwelling leaders' decisions. Oh...wait, he will detroy
dams and millions of folks live a long the low lands will become
"Padek" like Burma in recent months.

LOL@3mr,

you may be corrected this time....hahhaha LOL! lets turn this to be a
very good joke here in SCH...just take a good look in few years back--
the US was mounting a war against innocent iraq...w/o WMD-Weapon of
Mass Destruction. Allan the god had giving them Hurricane Katrina
that had wiped most of the Louisiana, and flood that city into stone
age. just that the chinese started ...with tibetian...earth quake had
shaken many lives, and then burma's flood. again, tsunami was the far
greatest god's punishment to asian. nowadays, people in California
felt the shaken of it ground. very soon as we walk over iran, then
california would be departed from our mainland of the US, as a result
of god's pusnishment......hahahahhah LOL@Zhen and Pebmhoobruam..

No, I am a saver, not a destroyer. Let god take his action, so no one
can complain.

Daming for pennies project, just like domino effect, if one falls, the
others will follow..man-made disaster is ticking!
